Let’s get one thing straight — Mr. Mime is nowhere near as terrifying in Pokemon Unite as he is in that movie, unless of course you’re the enemy team trying to get past him. A dependable Supporter, it lives up to its description as a barrier between your foes and your carries.

Mr. Mime is relatively easy to play, but you’ll need to learn to position yourself well in order to be effective in protecting your allies. While Mime can deal damage, you’ll ideally want to focus on supporting your allies and taking advantage of Mime’s abilities.

When To Pick Mr. Mime

Mr. Mime is an ideal choice when your team needs a disruptor, one with good survivability and can prevent your enemies from locking onto your backline carries. With them shielded, they’ll be free to deal the kind of damage you’ll need to push lanes.

However, while Mime himself isn’t that difficult to play, he does rely on having teammates that are on the same page. Your lane partner can’t be too aggressive or reckless, as Mime won’t be able to protect them well. It’s a pick best reserved for when you know who you’re playing alongside, more than whom you’re playing against.

Mr. Mime: Barrier Build

This build is all about doing what Mr. Mime does best — blocking the enemy. You’re not here for glory or for goals, but to facilitate your allies carrying you to victory. You’ll deal a nice bit of damage, but your timing is going to be key.

Barrier does as it says on the tin, blocking enemies from passing for a significant amount of time. What’s better is that you can store multiple uses of Barrier, up to three at level 13, so you can always be prepared. You have flexibility to pick Psychic for the debuff, or Confusion for the knockback.

Items should be focused on utility, with Buddy Barrier and Score Shield good options. You might want to pick up the Exp. Share to compensate for the lack of farming, or Focus Band for more sustain. Given you’re on the frontlines and a target, the Full Heal is useful in clearing any CC.

Mr. Mime: Facilitator Build

This build is a little different, and is more concerned with ensuring your carry has all they need to be an effective tool. It’s easier to play, and less dependent on putting yourself in harm’s way. You’ll still help in keeping the enemy away from your teammates, just in a less direct form.

Confusion will serve as your zoning tool to knock back opponents, while Guard Swap is there to boost your allies and debilitate your foes. You’ll want to use Showtime as your primary engage whenever it’s off cooldown, as it’s a highly useful Unite Move.

You’ll use a different item set for this build, but hold on to the Exp. Share to mitigate XP loss. Focus Band becomes more important for low-level sustain, while Assault Vest adds to your tankiness. Eject Button is more useful than other Battle Items.
