Leaked screenshots appear to reveal a little more information about the upcoming MOBA title, Pokémon Unite.

Earlier this year, Nintendo held two Pokémon Presents presentations a week apart. The first was jam-packed with exciting news. That news included the reveal that Mega Evolutions are coming to Pokémon GO, and also the long-awaited arrival of a Pokémon Snap sequel. It was assumed by many Pokémon fans that the news being saved for the following week would be even bigger, or at least on par with the exciting reveals from week one.

That didn't happen. The second Pokémon Presents focused on just one game, and it wasn't the big reveal many had hoped for. It was the announcement of Pokémon Unite. Unite marks Pokémon's first foray into the MOBA genre and looks a little like a League of Legends crossover. The Presents featured some Unite gameplay but not much else.

Hence why a leak of some Unite screenshots via a Chinese social media site has been met with a certain amount of intrigue, now that fans are over the underwhelming reveal. The screenshots, which appear to be real, show off playable Pokémon that weren't featured in the trailer or the initial gameplay reveal. They also seem to show off that the game's characters will be very customizable.

One of the screenshots shows the players, one male and one female, dressed as sailors. The others show menus featuring newly revealed Pokémon to the game, and also some of them in action. The previously unrevealed Pokémon playable in Unite include Wigglytuff, Greninja, Lucario, and Charizard. Although not shown during the initial gameplay, that last one was an assumed inclusion since Charmeleon was shown and Pokémon can evolve mid-battle.

The reveal of Unite might have been a disappointment at first, but now Pokémon fans are over the reveal not being something more, it's time to get excited. Nintendo has clearly put a lot of thought into the game, even recruiting the help of Tencent to make sure they get the game just right. Unite will provide Pokémon gamers with a new and unique way to battle, which is impressive considering how long the franchise has been around.
