PlayStation has made a big deal out of bringing its first-party properties to PC. Spider-Man, God of War, and Horizon Zero Dawn have all made the jump to PC over the past year, so when reports started circulating that Gran Turismo 7 could be next, they seemed credible. That report stemmed from an interview with GTPlanet where Gran Turismo creator Kazunori Yamauchi was asked point-blank if a PC port was something he was considering. "Yes, I do think so," he replied, adding that such a PC port would be difficult to do as "not many platforms […] could run the game in 4K/ 60 FPS natively."Related: TheGamer’s Game Of The Year Editor’s Pick, 2022 – Lu-Hai LiangIt seems that conversation may have been misinterpreted. In a new interview with Dengeki Online and translated by Twitter user Genki_JPN (all courtesy of VGC), Yamauchi said that a PC port of Gran Turismo 7 is not currently in the works.

"That's not true," when asked about rumors regarding Gran Turismo 7 being ported. "Regarding the PC version, I replied '(as a developer) it's not that I haven't considered all the possibilities.' That means that the possibility is not zero, simply if you ask me 'are you doing anything concrete?' I am not doing anything. There is nothing to talk about."

So, no Gran Turismo 7 for Steam, or at least, no Gran Turismo 7 anytime soon. It took years for God of War to show up on PC, and Sony has only just begun to realize the value of PC as a platform. I wouldn't be too surprised to hear about a PC port of Gran Turismo 7 again sometime down the line.

Yamauchi recently stated Gran Turismo is PlayStation's best-selling first-party franchise after reaching 90 million copies sold. That announcement came on Gran Turismo's 25th birthday alongside a story of the origins of Gran Turismo and how Polyphonic Digital has grown from a team of five to a studio of over 200 employees.
