Prince of Persia The Sands of Time is a classic video game, beloved by many. When news broke of a remaster being helmed by Ubisoft Mumbai and Ubisoft Prune, fans were overjoyed. However, development has been turbulent and the game has had its release window delayed indefinitely and been handed off to Ubisoft Montreal, the studio behind the original trilogy. However, it seems the Indian studios' version may be out there, and some people could have played it already.As reported by WhatIfGaming, industry insider Lance McDonald claimed that the Prince of Persia Remake "was actually finished, went gold, went through Sony certification and was uploaded to the PlayStation network servers, where some people clever were able to preserve it and even decrypt it using their pre-order encryption keys."Apparently, the game was gold and added to the PSN servers but due to backlash was pulled. However, some players with preorder keys were able to decrypt the game and play it, as evidenced by unlocked trophies appearing. The trophies are mostly sat at a 57.1 percent completion rate, meaning it's likely only a tiny handful of people have managed to get the game working and played through the whole thing.
Preorders for the Sands of Time Remake have been cancelled and refunded, but Ubisoft says the game itself is not cancelled. Due to there being no set launch date, preorders have been cancelled until further notice though.
