We're not quite sure what's going on with Portal 2. Back in February, Valve gave their hit puzzle game a massive new update that added a new Vulkan renderer to improve performance on modern PC hardware. They also gave Portal 2 a bunch of quality-of-life improvements, such as a 360-spin command, improved netcode, controller options for sending game invitations, and a ton of old bug fixes.

They could have just left it at that, but late last night Valve issued another, much smaller update. This time the big change is removing the 100 MB Workshop level file size limit. This means that custom level makers can now make much larger custom levels both in terms of area and complexity.

Another new feature added in last night's update was two command lines for running benchmark demos. One was for running the demo itself, while the other was for enabling certain benchmark graphics settings, which range from "very_high_4k," to "low."

The update also continued on February's renderer update with some optimization changes, as well as more bug fixes. Demo playback for Workshop maps has been fixed so that people can see the level in action before they download it, and custom maps without lights will no longer disable lighting for the rest of the game.

You can read the full patch notes over on Steam. This might just be a small continuation of Portal 2's previous update from several months ago, or perhaps Valve has some other reason for these Portal 2 updates--like, maybe, Portal 3?

If Epic and Valve weren't locked in a bitter struggle for the future of PC gamers, this Chel Fortnite skin would be an amazing new addition to the battle royale game. Maybe after they’re done litigating with Apple, Epic and Valve can bury the hatchet and we’ll get some cool crossover content like this.
