Rumors and leaks have started circulating in the lead up to Sony's big Ps5 reveal later this week, leading many to believe that Final Fantasy XVI will be announced during the presentation.

The first FFXVI leaks came, as leaks often do, from 4chan earlier this week. According to the anonymous poster, Square Enix has several games to announce during Summer Game Fest, including the next installment in the mainline Final Fantasy series, and a brand new IP called Crimson Arbitrium - Agni's Anthology.

According to the rumor, Final Fantasy XVI will blend the core concepts of Final Fantasy XV and Dark Souls into a unique battle system. The game will have a steampunk aesthetic and will bring the job system back to the series.

Crimson Arbitrium is said to be an action JRPG with a combat system that leans into elemental magic and ways to interact with the environment. The leaker indicates that the game has been inspired by The 4 Heroes Of Light and Parasite Eve.

Over on Reddit, user u/ghibik combined these rumors with a tweet from Square Enix technical director Ben Taylor to suggest that both games would be revealed during the PS5 livestream. The tweet, which reminds players to tune in for the event, has since been deleted.

The Ps5 reveal event will stream on Twitch and Youtube this Thursday, June 4th.
