You may still be in shock from the news that Power Rangers: Battle for the Grid will be welcoming Ryu and Chin-Li of Street Fighter fame to the roster, but that doesn't mean developer nWay is half-assing things. In addition to giving each character a custom Power Ranger outfit, nWay has revealed a new trailer that shows a custom Ryu skin themed after Angel Grove High School. That's right, Ryu apparently went to school with the original Rangers in 1993.

In all honesty, the skin looks pretty cool. It's not as ridiculous as some of the concoctions that Capcom has come up with in Street Fighter 5, which features Ryu wearing hip-hop attire. This at least fits in with the aesthetic of Power Rangers, even if Ryu is a bit old to be donning high school clothing. Makes me think of that scene from 30 Rock...

With Ryu getting this type of skin, it's only a matter of time before nWay announces something for Chun-Li. I would imagine she'll have some kind of spandex or whatever was popular in the 90s. Despite living through that decade, I've kind of forgotten what fashion really looked like then.

The Street Fighter DLC pack for Power Rangers: Battle for the Grid will be available on May 25, 2021, for $12.50 and comes with both characters and this fun costume. If you only want one character, both Ryu and Chun-Li will be available for $5.99 each. You'll be able to grab it on PC, PS4, Xbox One, Switch, and Stadia when it releases.
