PowerWash Simulator (PWS) burst onto the scene as one of the most surprisingly fun games of 2022, and its greatness expands beyond just a mindless single-player experience. The ability to bring a few friends together with the common goal of cleaning massive vehicles and immersive locations scratches an itch that gamers never knew existed.

Several TG Staff members have fallen in love with PowerWash Simulator, as it frequently finds itself among conversations about what we're playing on the weekends. There's something about the never-ending battle between dirt and pristine cleanliness that keeps us coming back for more washing. If you have a friend or significant other who will join, load up these levels and let the good times roll.

8 The Playground

A dirty purple dinosaur at rest in The Playground.

PowerWash Simulator's Career Mode features several levels with escalating amounts of dirt and larger areas to cover. Going at some of them alone is quite a tall task, but becomes far more manageable with a friend or two to break up the work into smaller chunks. The Playground is a perfect example of when an overwhelming task can become a joy with a little help from your friends.

The large floor area is tough enough to tackle on its own, and that's not even taking into account all the tiny crevices and awkward angles that you'll be required to clean on the jungle gym and swing set. Assigning jobs should help ensure you don't get stuck trying to find the last speck of dirt in this puzzling playground.

7 Mini Golf Course

A clean entrance with the dirty Mini Golf Course behind it.

If you're looking for a bit more variety, then the Mini Golf Course, also appropriately called Muckingham Palace should provide plenty of wacky fun. The holes are adorable and well-thought-out, immersing you into this playful paradise as you uncover its beauty.

Upon first inspection, it's clear that the course has seen better days as the many layers of mold, grime, and rust cover most of the hole designs. Once you start to peel back the thick layers of dirt, you and your friends can really appreciate how satisfying it is to clean this wonderful course.

6 Back Garden

Clean grass and a dirty porch in the Back Garden.

If the process of cleaning your actual backyard sounds far too daunting or mundane of a chore, then why not get a taste of how fun it might actually be? While owning a house with a backyard may seem an impossible dream these days, there's no better way to live the dream with your partner than by hopping into PowerWash to check out the Back Garden.

Couples and friends alike can jump into this level early in the Career Mode to get a sense of the amount of dirt that can quickly accumulate in a yard — so is it worth having one, really? That's up to you to decide, but for now, prepare to check out every inch of this level — there are more spots where grime loves to hide than meets the eye.

5 The Ancient Statue

The Ancient Statue presides stoically over the ruins.

Perhaps you're already one of the lucky ones who owns a house and finds that yard work hits a little too close to home for your liking — no problem at all. Instead, go for something a bit out of your wheelhouse by advancing the game's story far enough to reach The Ancient Statue.

Unless you're already an archeologist studying ancient ruins, then this should provide an excellent escape for you and your best PowerWash pal to dive into headfirst. By this point in the game, you begin to question if there's more going on than meets the eye; after all, how often does someone discover massive ancient statues that need cleaning?

4 The Ferris Wheel

The filthy Ferris Wheel turns slowly in an empty theme park.

For those of you who are actually archeologists (firstly, amazing! Congrats on the cool job.) and need something more exciting in their video game, then here's something more whimsical. The Ferris Wheel is thankfully the main target to clean in the large carnival area and can be turned on or off during the level.

Keep in mind that there is an achievement for cleaning the entire Ferris Wheel stage without turning it off, so completionists will need to take on the challenge of a moving target. It actually can make the stage easier if you get the rotations down to a science, so don't let you or your cooperative comrade be deterred.

3 The Lost City Palace

An Ancient Palace sits covered in years of dirt and grime.

The final level of Career Mode is quite a doozy, even for two people to tackle, so you may want to call in reinforcements if you aim to finish this in one sitting. Unfortunately, there was a known issue reported that the cleaned areas in this level sometimes reset the dirt on them if you leave and re-load the area, so finishing in one session may be the smartest option.

The dirt reset glitch certainly does not happen to everyone, so you may not have to worry about it at all. That being said, this level is an incredible conclusion to the rollercoaster third act of the story, so look around and take it all in — this one is a treat.

2 The Washroom

A half-clean, half-dirty Washroom being returned to glory with a powerwash stream.

Public restrooms are notoriously filthy, and it's safe to say none of us have ever envied the brave souls in charge of cleaning them. However, The Washroom presents a dirt-packed canvas for you and a friend to use however you please. As you clean this disgusting area together, the walls present ripe opportunities to leave tiny messages for your partner.

Speaking of messages, the texts you receive from Clem, the man who bought this pigsty, are downright hysterical. As you reach certain cleanliness thresholds, his plan will slowly become clear as he intends to turn these former bathrooms into a nightclub. Despite admitting to being a germophobe, Clem mentions serving Pina Coladas in the urinals for the "novelty". Okay, Clem, whatever you say.

1 The RV (Again) Aka The UFO

The UFO takes off on the left while it remains in its cloaked RV appearance on the right.

This level seems simple enough to start under the guise of cleaning an RV but completely flips the table on everything you thought PowerWash Simulator was. If you weren't already fully invested, this level might be motivation enough to include PWS in your Game Of The Year list.

Upon approaching the RV, it will transform, disabling its cloaking device to reveal a massive chrome UFO — totally normal. Apparently, having a dirty flying saucer makes its owner very, very sad, making it you and your partner's job to clean it so the owner "can smile once more." At this point you may wonder what in the hell is going on, and the simple answer is just to grab a buddy and find out yourself, as you would struggle to believe the explanation anyway. Grab an unsuspecting friend and convince them to play PowerWash Simulator's Career Mode cooperatively, then enjoy their reactions to these incredible stages.
