Another entry in the popular sub-genre of simulator games, PowerWash Simulator puts you in charge of the aptly named Dirtfinder whose mission is to clean a plethora of very dirty things in the name of an honest living.
Whilst deep cleaning your way through a career as a jet washer, you’ll find yourself in all sorts of locations. These environments, alongside the things you’ll be making squeaky clean, are designed to enhance the tranquil experience that is forever prevalent, as you cut into soot, mud, rust, and other foul substances with an array of jet washing equipment. And here are the locations that are geared to making your jet washer fantasy as satisfying as possible.
10 Walnut Street, Back Garden
An early location will see you driving off to sud down a rather filthy-looking back garden. This is the perfect place to ease you into the exacting yet satisfying job of cleaning up Muckingham, the fictitious town the game is set in.
The garden has a nice variety of objects to scrub up including a shed, a swing chair, a toy car and a pond. Cleaning these are made all the more satisfying within the familiar and relaxing garden setting – complete with birds chirping. Blissful.
9 Muckingham Playground
One of the first truly daunting locations, the grubby playground is full of nooks and crannies, especially when tackling the adventure climbing frame. However, the satisfaction factor becomes gleefully apparent once the job is complete.
The multicolored floor explodes with vibrancy, and you’ll just want to spend some well-deserved playtime sliding down the adorable stegosaurus slide. Theirs even a football to blast about – try getting it up the slide.
8 Arcadia Avenue, Detached House
There’s always something intriguing about horror inspired levels in non-horror video games. They catch you off guard and become memorable for it. The spooky detached house is the closet PowerWash Simulator gets to presenting such a level.
This gothic-looking house is etched in strange symbols and rumors of a ghost are detailed in text messages, the game's narrative device. Dirt-banishing the big house is satisfying amongst fans who like a bit of mystery in their power wash fantasy video games. Just don’t be too disheartened when the paranormal activity is revealed to be purely circumstantial.
7 Fairground, Carousel
Who doesn’t find joy at the fairground? Roll up, roll up and get spraying a cack-covered carousel. This intricate job is a fine challenge, made all the harder considering the carousel is continuously rotating.
The carousel dazzles as all its details become unmuddied. And if the spinning is causing you dizziness, you can turn it off for a more relaxing cleanse. The fairground location itself is a little sparse, however you can knock some coconuts over with a well-aimed squirt.
6 Home Garage
A recurring location is your very own garage, a home comfort. Some jobs will trade the grimy structures for a smaller, but equally grimy means of transport. A golf cart, motorbike, and even a rusty Penny farthing will all need to be power washed to cleandom.
The vehicles are a nice change of pace from the larger locations, which can take many hours to complete. Sometimes, the only thing you’ll need to clean in your garage is a muddy dirt bike. And with these being quicker jobs, it might net you the funds you need quickly for those all-important power washer upgrades!
5 Abandoned Washroom
Not the most glamorous of locations but by all means satisfying to wash. This washroom looks like it hasn’t seen a living being in years, and before you soap it into a cleaner tomorrow, take in the graffiti scrawled inside the forgotten cubicles.
When you’re ready to begin, you’ll be peeling off the dirt from ceramic sinks and old-fashioned tiles. In fact, tiles are probably the most satisfying surfaces, with the developers really making them look shiny. Just try not to think too much about what it is you’re actually cleaning off those floors.
4 Subway Station
It can be deduced from the light narrative that the grime found in the subway station is over thirty years old. It’s caked with all manner of nasty stuff, including oil – one of the hardest substances to clean. However, it’s still no match for the Dirtfinder General and a steady hand.
What makes this place gratifying to glean is the large, tiled floor that makes up the platform. Those tiles will look so good you’ll want to eat your dinner off them. And then eat the tiles themselves. It’s an enormous job to complete and one that truly puts you in the zone of Zen.
3 National Park, Tree House
Deep within the heart of Muckingham’s national park is a beautifully designed tree house, or rather a tree mansion. Complete with spiraling stairs made of oak and a miniature obstacle course, this is the home of a hunter who is obsessed with trying to capture a glimpse of the legendary Bigfoot.
Cleaning the tree house is arduous work, but something about being in a forest makes it charmingly tolerable. A waterfall serves as an eye-candy backdrop and the sound of leaves rustling offers a trance-like feeling to the cleaning. Or was that the sound of Bigfoot carefully watching from the hedgerow?
2 Surface Of Mars
In space, no one can hear you clean. Your work as the ultimate power washer isn’t just confined within the atmospheric walls of Earth. A contract will have you traveling across the galaxy to clean a Mars rover over on Mars.
Fittingly, the muted sounds and altered gravity is a welcomed change to the norm. The only things you’ll be sprucing is a rover and a mysterious hatch, both of which are covered in space dust. The clever use of environmental storytelling in the form of little alien footprints adds a nice dynamic to the job.
1 Muckingham Castle Mini-Putt
There really should be more mini golf video games. There really, really should be a mini golf video game where the putters are replaced with jet washers. And until that happens, the castle mini-putt locale has you covered – making for one of the most satisfying locations in the game.
Not only can you get lost in the tremendous task of cleaning the entire course, which is both wildly complex and tantalizingly satisfying (those Astroturf floors will make you tingle) but you can attempt to play the 9-hole course. Except don’t expect to get the golf balls over the ramps or into the dragon.
