Praey for the Gods can be an intense experience. This action survival offering from No Matter Studios has players battling hunger, exhaustion, fatigue, and more that the player must contend with upon the start of their frozen expedition. It's one of the more brutal survival games out there, one that you should go into with an open mind and plenty of patience.

Most intimidating of all are the titular gods themselves. Towering above the player, these seemingly larger than life behemoths serve as a seemingly insurmountable obstacle on the quest to end this never ending winter. Luckily, the game provides you with several weapons to help even those Herculean odds. These are the best you can find and equip.

5 The Wood Club

This first entry is admittedly, a bit of a cheat. The Wood Club is undisputedly the worst melee weapon in the game, and should only be used in combat if the player has literally no other option or weapon available. However, its importance and versatility may often mean the difference between life and death.

The Wood Club can be set ablaze, generating both light and heat. Aside from the epic boss battles, Praey for the Gods is very much a survival game. You can help increase your chances of survival by fighting off the cold, increasing your vision in dark perilous environments, and even solve some puzzles while holding this makeshift torch. It can be found readily available at several locations in the game, by destroying crates, and is a simple and straightforward craft.

4 The Elite Sword

The main chracter holding their sword against the boss in Praey For The Gods.

Sporting ornate designs etched into the blade itself, this weapon is as deadly as it is beautiful. It is highly effective in close-ranged combat, but it also boasts greater range, damage, and durability than a typical sword. All of these factors become increasingly crucial as tougher gods are revealed, allowing more adaptability in combat situations. Soul Gear is generally the most sought after type of weapon in this game. However, it's worth nothing that while the Soul Sword boasts higher durability and stunning visuals, the Elite Sword still has it beat on pure damage output.

None of this of course matters, unless the player can get their hands on it. Luckily, there is not one, but two ways to add this weapon to your arsenal. The first method is by simply besting the champion mini bosses in combat. The second requires a bit more luck. The Elite Sword has the potential to be dropped by Elite Undead enemies, so the player can keep besting them until the weapon is in their hands.

3 The Elite Axe

The main chracter holding her axe in Praey For The Gods.

Light enough for one hand, yet devastating enough to bring a god to its knees. This impressive looking double-headed axe has a higher durability then it's predecessor, the Iron Axe. It also boasts a higher damage output. This weapon shows its versatility, as it can also be used to expedite resource gathering, and can swiftly break apart trees and logs alike.

Interestingly, this weapon can be obtained not from a physical battle, but from a test of skill and the mind. Players must solve the intricate puzzle of the wind cave, which involves flying with a sail cloth through several precarious wind streams through a dark cavern. At the end of the journey, the Elite Ax will be in your possession.

2 The Soul Bow

Glowing Bow at Arial Monster in Praey For The Gods.

The greatest weapons allow you to strike without being in harm's way. The Soul Bow fulfills these combat requirements perfectly. Soul Gear sports expert craftsmanship and durability. In the hands of a deadly archer this weapon can single-handedly turn the tide of a battle. Players utilizing this bow can look forward to a quicker draw time, and improved aim via a much more precise target reticle. This makes the always-sought-after headshot a more consistent reality in any combat scenario.

As of the game's full release, all the prized Soul Gear in the game, including The Soul Bow, can be dropped by defeating the intimidating champions that loom around the map. Beating bosses in this game is never easy, but it is always worth it in the end.

1 Explosive Arrow

There is no single greater offensive weapon in the player's arsenal than a well-placed and well-timed Explosive Arrow. Laced with powder that detonates on impact, this arrow can cause incredible damage to it's intended target. The large explosion makes them difficult to use in combat for all but the most skilled, but its damage from a distance is absolutely devastating. Don't waste these on hunting, but rather groups of undead enemies or a well-placed shot to a champion.

As one might expect for the sake of balance, the Explosive Arrow is incredibly rare. However, they can still be found in key locations on the map and in-game environment. With a skilled archer and a handful of these arrows at the ready, it will be the gods' turn to utter a quick prayer.
