There isn't a more iconic duo than Ubisoft and leaks about unannounced games. This time, a Guatemalan retailer leaked details of an unannounced Prince of Persia remake.
Prince Of Persia is a beloved Ubisoft franchise that has been dormant for a long time. The leaks seem to indicate that the remake is coming this November for PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch. There is no word if this is a remake of one game or if its a remake of the entire Prince Of Persia trilogy. One interesting note is that Jason Schreier commented on the leak on Twitter saying, "Video game retailers sure love leaking Ubisoft's surprise announcements." Given Schreier's track record, the leaked remake seems confirmed.
Prince Of Persia's last entry on gaming consoles was Prince Of Persia: The Forgotten Sands in 2010. There have been a couple of mobile games released since then. In 2018, Prince Of Persia: Escape was released, which is a runner game and a 2013 remake of Prince Of Persia 2: The Shadow and the Flame. There is also a Prince Of Persia VR escape room called The Dagger Of Time. Fans have been clamoring for a new console game for a long time now. While a remake isn't a new game, the remaking selling well could finally lead to a new Prince Of Persia video game.
While the game is still unconfirmed, this seems to be one of the games announced at the next Ubisoft Forward. The first Ubisoft Forward had some extended looks at games that were announced for this year, as well as announcing Far Cry 6, which also leaked before the event. However, Ubisoft Forward lacked the surprise factor that makes E3 presentations the gaming event of the summer. They did promise another Ubisoft Forward in 2020, where games like Gods & Monsters, and Beyond Good & Evil 2 could be. Of course, Nintendo could also surprise us with a Nintendo Direct, and announce the Prince Of Persia remake during their presentation.
Prince Of Persia fans should be happy about the leak of this remake. If this does well, it could lead to a new Prince Of Persia video game. It happened for Crash Bandicoot, and it can happen to the prince as well. If the leak is confirmed, we should see this game released in November.
