Seemingly out of nowhere, IO Interactive, the team behind the critically acclaimed Hitman games announced a new game. Said game is known as Project 007, a brand new James Bond game. There hasn't been a new James Bond game since 007 Legends which was critically panned.

All that is known about the game is that it will be a James Bond origin story. Of course, the most iconic Bond game ever made is GoldenEye which revolutionized first-person shooters forever. After a long hiatus, fans and gamers alike are intrigued to see how IO Interactive takes on the franchise. However, there are also some concerns from fans.

10 Don't: A Bland Shooter

007 Legends - AK47 Gameplay

GoldenEye was a classic and that formula for Bond games evolved into Nightfire which is arguably superior. When the Daniel Craig era of movies kicked off, the games evolved into lackluster clones of Call Of Duty games.

Gone were the complicated stealth sections, puzzle elements, and gameplay variety. Instead, it was just a few hours of shooting faceless goons with some bland story. With IO Interactive in control, fans are hoping that they don't repeat the mistakes of Activision.

9 Want: More Gameplay Variety

James Bond From Everything Or Nothing

With a character as massive and iconic as James Bond, there are so many potential gameplay styles to choose from. Intriguing investigative segments a la Batman: Arkham games; dialogue choices and moral decisions in the same vein as Mass Effect, and methodical stealth and shooter aspects of IO's Hitman games.

In this new generation of gaming, it would be a tad disappointing to settle for just stealth or shooting. Project 007 could be the Red Dead Redemption II of spy thriller games.

8 Don't: A Linear Game

The older games did well with a level by level structure but James Bond could bring in so much more. By 007 Legends, that linear structure of gameplay became stale and seemed old hat.

One massive open map similar to The Witcher III: Wild Hunt for Bond to explore. Bond could take on side quests, activities, deal with instances, and more. Allow players access to drive around via the iconic Aston Martin and it could make for one of the best open-world games.

7 We Want: Bring Back The Gadgets

007 Nightfire - Laser Watch

One of the reasons games like 007 Legends became boring was that all Bond was relying on was guns and a smartphone. For a James Bond game, that is just unforgivable. GoldenEye and Nightfire each featured great gadgets for different uses.

Solving puzzles, silently taking out enemies, or just simply to look cool. Project 007 should embrace older movies and games by bringing back the gadgets.

6 Don't: Balance The Seriousness With Fun

Blofeld From Spectre

The Daniel Craig era of movies has had a lot of ups and downs. Casino Royale and SkyFall are often viewed as some of the best Bond films ever made; meanwhile, Quantum Of Solace and Spectre were disappointing to a lot of fans.

With Project 007 providing a brand new take on the franchise, it should return to roots. For example: bring back some of the fun that comes with being James Bond as well as the epic, serious stories. The sass, fun adventures, and memorable characters. Avoid the kind of plot twists that Spectre brought to the table.

5 We Want: An Epic Single-Player Experience

Games like GoldenEye and even later titles put a lot of emphasis on the multiplayer. Granted, the multiplayer worked there but these days, people have grown tired of online multiplayer games. Especially since it usually causes the main campaign to be an afterthought.

God Of War, Spider-Man: Miles Morales, and Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order prove that a well-crafted single-player experience is all one needs.

4 Don't: A Hitman Clone

Hitman 2

IO Interactive has always delivered with their Hitman titles, especially the reboot series. Those games are great as they are but some are worried that IO Interactive will make a Hitman clone with a Bond skin.

If IO Interactive wishes to take a few notes from their Hitman games, that's another thing altogether. Project 007 should feel like a unique experience: not a GoldenEye clone, not a Hitman clone. Something new for old school and new players alike to enjoy.

3 We Want: Customizing Our Bond

Over the almost sixty years of films and games alike, James Bond has worn so many different outfits. Gamers these days love having their own custom lookss for characters so being able to choose which fancy tuxedo or what hairstyle Bond has? It could go a long way.

Maybe a player wants Bond to wear a Hawaiian shirt with shorts? Or a simple t-shirt and jeans? Or Sean Connery's famous white tuxedo. Just having these options would be nice. Same for his firearms.

2 Don't: Rehash Old Villains

007 Legends - Goldfinger

If this is a new take on the Bond universe, come up with new villains. There is no need to retread the movies by trying to reboot characters like Goldfinger, Alec Trevelyan, or Raoul Silva. With good writing, new villains can be introduced and become as iconic as those villains.

It would especially be wise to avoid rehashing old villains especially after the backlash that recently occurred with Spectre. There are plenty of iconic videogame villains out there outside of the Bond franchise to take notes from.

1 We Want: A New Face For Bond

James Bond Gunbarrel Art

Typically, James Bond in the games is modeled after the current actor in the films. This is completely understandable and worked for many games. Even Pierce Brosnan and Daniel Craig came in to provide voices later on.

That being said: if this is meant to be a brand new Bond universe, a new face should be chosen to lead this new version. Plenty of great actors to choose from, including Henry Cavill and Idris Elba who fans have wanted as the character for years.
