Not a fan of the futuristic design of PS5? Fear not, as starting January 5 you'll be able to pre-order Sony's next-gen console and controller with a decidedly retro flair.

Full disclosure – these aren't official products from Sony. In fact, they come from a few Redditors that created a simple mockup a few weeks ago and posted it to the web. Needless to say, everybody loved what they saw, and so the duo are turning it into a reality. On January 5 both the PS2-inspired DualSense controller and PS5 console will be available for pre-order. Supplies will be incredibly limited, with only 500 DualSense controllers and 304 consoles up for grabs. They're not cheap, either, selling for $99 and $649, respectively.

"We feel obligated to do this based on the unexpectedly positive response from everyone," said SUP3R5, one of the original designers. No doubt the thread was popular, amassing over 8,000 upvotes and hundreds of positive comments. We're not sure if production will continue beyond the first wave of products, but it's cool to see the two creators offering up something to their fans.

To stay up to date on the console and learn more about pre-orders, be sure to check out its official website.
