Tweeting screenshots and clips of your favorite PS5 moments is about to get a lot easier and portable. Sony has rolled out a limited-release beta test for a new PS5 feature that allows you to share screenshots and footage from PS5 games on the PlayStation app.

Unfortunately, the feature is limited to fans living in Canada and Japan. U.S. players are left out of the experience for now, but that's a fairly common practice for slowly testing the waters on new functionality, so don't feel too bad just yet.

Basically, you'll enable the auto-upload setting on your console, then the new update takes your game screenshots and clips taken on the PS5 and automatically uploads them to the PlayStation app. From there, you can download the pictures and videos to your camera roll and upload them to almost any social media feed, not just Twitter and Facebook, and type out captions quicker than you would on a controller. The video clips will even include audio from your mic if you've given your device permission to record.

As exciting as it all is, there are a few caveats when it comes to using the new share update. First, uploaded media will stay in the PlayStation app for only 14 days, so the sooner you download the clips and screencaps to your phone, the better. Second, videos need to be under three minutes long and cannot be played in 4K. Also, your Trophy moments and Activity Challenge auto-captures will not be uploaded.

The beta is now available on iOS devices for users in Canada and Japan now, so you can start sharing screenshots from Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart and Kena: Bridge of Spirits to your heart's content. Unfortunately, Android users will need to wait a while to get the update, as Sony said the release would be "phased and may take one week" to reach Android phones.

Players have requested easy screencap sharing for the PlayStation app for quite some time, as currents methods for getting your memories to social media can still be a pain. For now, it's unclear when and where the update will go live next, as Sony released a disclaimer that the beta rollout could be terminated or modified at any time.
