New details have emerged regarding the haptic feedback of the PS5's DualSense controller and how pivotal a role it will play in experiencing next-gen titles.

Both Sony and Microsoft were somewhat backward in coming forward when it came to revealing details about its next-gen consoles. That is still the case now, to an extent, despite the release dates of the PS5 and Series X fast approaching. Well, that's the assumption, as one of the details both parties remain reluctant to confirm is the respective consoles' release dates.

When it comes to the PS5's new DualSense controller, on the other hand, Sony has been pretty forthright. The design of it was revealed to the world before it was afforded the opportunity to see its corresponding console for the first time. News that the PS4's DualShock will not be compatible with PS5 games was greeted with a fair amount of backlash, but news revealed today explains why that is.

The DualSense will be an integral part of the PS5 experience. Lord Blavin has shared some new details on Twitter that come off the back of a brand new trailer for the next-gen console. The trailer focuses in on how Sony wants players to become fully immersed in its next-gen games. It mentioned 3D audio, which has been discussed at length, but also the haptic feedback and adaptive triggers of its controller.

When playing Spider-Man: Miles Morales, the DualSense will vibrate accordingly to let players know from what direction they are about to be attacked. That's right, the controller will equip the player with their very own Spidey sense. It will also vibrate starting from the left of the controller through to the right whenever Morales uses his Venom Punch.

The first details on how the DualSense's new adaptive triggers will come into play have also been revealed. When playing Deathloop, the release of which has been delayed until Q2 2021, the triggers will lock when a players' gun jams. That means they will get a physical indicator that something isn't right as well as a visual one, allowing them to react accordingly a little faster than they might have done in the past.
