Rumors are swirling that Sony will hold a second PS5 reveal event next month, and is waiting to see what is revealed during the Xbox event to confirm a date.

After months of revealing little more about its console than what the controllers will look like, Sony flooded gamers with information about the PS5 last month. That information included boatloads of games that will be released at the end of this year and into 2021, what the console looks like, and that there will be a digital version available also.

There are still a number of details being kept close to Sony's chest, though. The same goes for Microsoft and its Xbox Series X. In fact, gamers know even less about the latter since Microsoft is yet to hold a similar event showcasing what its own next-gen console will offer up come the end of 2020.

That will have all changed come July 23, 2020, barring any delays, of course, which as has been proven a lot lately is entirely feasible. Microsoft will host an Xbox Games Showcase on that day, an event we are expecting will be very similar, and reveal similar details, to last month's PS5 Future of Gaming presentation. As for when gamers can expect to hear from Sony again, a report from Eurogamer's Tom Phillips suggests it won't be a long wait.

The latest is that Sony will hold a "State of Play" event in August. It's probably safe to assume that PlayStation held back a lot of what it wanted to announce at the last event for this one. More information that it can divulge once Xbox has made its next move. It has also been suggested that Sony won't confirm the date for its next event until it scouts what Xbox reveals on July 23.

Perhaps these next two events will finally feature information about the one aspect of both consoles games are dying to hear about: the price. It has become obvious at this point that it will be a case of who is willing to blink first, and right now, neither PlayStation nor Xbox is showing any sign of letting up. Someone has to reveal a price point first, and with the release window looming, it really has to be soon.
