As if getting your hands on a PlayStation 5 wasn’t hard enough already, you then have to buy an expensive game to play on it. Fortunately you’ll now be able to ensure that you spend your precious money on a game you actually like, as Sony has introduced a new feature called Game Trials.

Emails were sent out to PS5 owners, informing them about the feature which would allow them to try out PlayStation 5 games for a limited time, free of cost. This would help console owners make an informed decision about spending their money. As of now, the two games available to try out are Death Stranding Director’s Cut and Sackboy: A Big Adventure.

The trial for Death Stranding will be six hours long and the one for Sackboy will be five hours long; both will be one-time trials, available till October 28. There are a few things that you’ll have to make a note of - The Game Trials can be found in the PlayStation Store and the timer will start from the moment you click “Download Trial” via the console or “Add to Library’ via web. This means that the timer will start regardless of you playing the game or not; so make sure you avail it when you have some time.

In our review for Death Stranding Director’s Cut we said it “remains a bizarre masterpiece on PS5, and the director’s cut only further cements that reputation with a number of worthwhile new ideas that enhance the act of delivering packages across a picturesque landscape of nothingness. The story of Sam Porter Bridges is overblown and wondrous, taking hold of you and refusing to let go as you’re dragged into an adventure that takes the medium to places it has never been before. It’s mindless self-indulgence of the highest order, and it’s rare to see a game deliver upon its overarching ambition in such a bold, uncompromising way in the modern era. For that very reason, it deserves to be celebrated.” It received five stars out of five.

As for Sackboy: A Big Adventure, our review called it a “decent platforming game that’s stuffed with charm, if a little lacking in imagination, which is a shame for a franchise built on creativity. Saying that, if you’ve got children, this is a must-buy for some family-friendly PS5 fun.” It got three and a half stars.
