The latest PS5 commercial features Adult Swim's Rick and Morty as they discuss the merits of Sony's next-gen console. It also includes Rick's foul mouth and a fat stack of cash – which Rick is eagerly counting in the background.
Commercials for both PS5 and Series X seem a bit frivolous right now. Both consoles are selling out at retailers around the world, and Microsoft and Sony are having trouble keeping up with the demand. However, that hasn't stopped Sony from dropping a wad of cash to get Rick and Morty to highlight PS5's many next-gen features. Whether Morty successfully sells you on the system is a bit irrelevant at this point. Most retailers have been out of stock since launch day, and whenever new inventory comes in it's immediately sold out within minutes. No doubt PS5 has incredible demand – it’s the supply that can't keep up. Even customers who pre-ordered the system are running into shipment delays. Of course, launching a console during a pandemic was bound to be riddled with issues, and I guess it's going about as smooth as anyone would have expected.
PlayStation 5 is now available for $499. A Digital Edition without a disk drive is also available for $399 – although we think the disk drive is probably worth the extra money.
