The PS5's latest software update is now live, and it finally lets you disable the notification that pops up whenever you take a screenshot.

What might well be the PS5's biggest software update so far has gone live today, tweaking a number of features and adding some very important and game-changing new ones. Most of those changes were outlined by PlayStation earlier this week. However, a smaller but still important one has been discovered by those who have already taken the new update for a spin.

As highlighted by Nibellion on Twitter, the ability to disable the notification that appears when you take a screenshot has now been added. It can be found under the PS5's button mapping options. The toggle was a feature on PS4, leaving those who take a lot of screenshots of their games a little peeved that it was inexplicably absent on PS5.

The main issue with the confirmation screenshot comes when someone tries to take multiple screenshots in a row. Since the bottom left-hand corner of the screen will briefly feature that confirmation, any you take immediately after will also include a smaller version of that initial screenshot. Not ideal if you're trying to take a few in quick succession so you can choose the best ones.

It might be a minor tweak, but it's one that will please quite a few people. Some of the bigger changes brought about by today's update include support for SSD storage expansion, and the ability to utilize the PS5's 3D audio through your TV's speakers. The latter is further proof of just how groundbreaking the PS5 really is. The DualSense will use its mic to determine the acoustics of your room, allowing the PS5 and your speakers to create a more immersive audio experience.

If you have a PS5, then the update should be live right now and will likely start downloading the next time you start up the console. As well as the ability to disable screenshot notifications and changes to SSD storage and 3D audio, there are also changes to the UX and an all-new Trophy Tracker. The tracker will allow you to keep an eye on five trophies at a time via the control center without the need to leave a game entirely just to check on them.
