PUBG: New State was just revealed in February, but that hasn't stopped it from racking up over 10 million pre-registrations. The new mobile battle royale from Krafton is yet to get a release date, although it's expected to arrive before the end of 2021.

To celebrate the historic milestone, Krafton made a quick announcement on Twitter.

"We’re happy to report that we’ve hit over 10 million PUBG: New State pre-registrations on Google Play. We’re humbled by the community’s overwhelming response and can’t wait to share our new battlegrounds experience with you later in 2021."

PUBG: New State previously hit the 5 million pre-registration mark in March – just one week after its big reveal.

Fans of the classic PUBG and PUBG Mobile are clearly excited to go hands-on with the upcoming title, but Krafton still isn't ready to announce specific details regarding launch date or alpha playtesting. The team did mention that alpha tests will run in the second quarter of 2021 in a limited number of regions, but nothing concrete was made public.

Last week, the studio asked its followers what it would like to see in "community care packages," with an overwhelming number of fans responding, saying they'd like to see more in-game screenshots. Hopefully, that means we can expect to see more of PUBG: New State in action over the next few months.

PUBG Mobile, meanwhile, lost its mobile crown last quarter. Garena Free Fire managed to pull in more revenue in the US market than the perennial champ, although PUBG Mobile is still the top-grossing mobile battle royale when viewed across the globe.

It was also recently announced that PUBG Lite – a low-spec version of the PC shooter that could run on budget rigs – will be shutting down. Krafton gave no indication as to why the game was closing its doors, but it's at least giving players a bit of time to say their final goodbyes.

PUBG: New State is expected to launch later this year.
