PUBG: New State was only just revealed on February 25, but the game has already managed to land more than 5 million pre-registrations on Google Play.

Krafton, the team behind New State, took to Twitter to share the achievement. "You did it! We did it! Thanks to our AMAZING community, we’ve hit over 5 million pre-registrations on Google Play within a week!"

The post goes on to say "more exclusive info" is on the way, although a firm timeline wasn't revealed.

PUBG: New State takes place in 2051 –several years after the original PUBG – on a map called TROI. New State is hoping to improve performance, graphics, and overall gameplay with several behind-the-scenes technological advancements. The game will reportedly introduce "ultra-realistic graphics that push the limits of mobile gaming."

iOS users can't yet pre-register for the game, but New State is scheduled to arrive on the platform in the near future. Alpha tests should also be cropping up shortly – keep your eyes glued to the official PUBG: New State website and Twitter for announcements.

The immediate success of PUBG: New State shouldn't be much of a surprise, given the current popularity of PUBG Mobile. That title has pulled in more than 734 million downloads throughout its life and has made over $4.3 billion as of December 2020.

PUBG: New State does not yet have a release date.
