SummoningSalt is best known for his incredible speedrunning documentaries, but that doesn't mean he doesn't compete himself. The popular YouTuber has managed to bag an impressive win of his own, beating the record for completing Mike Tyson's Punch Out while blindfolded.

This feat means that SummoningSalt now has the record in every category of Punch Out, bar one - best single-segment run. The latest win also puts the YouTuber in first place quite comfortably, beating second place by more than 20 seconds.

SummoningSalt has left the video unlisted for now, seemingly because he's confident he can get the record even lower. Speaking about the run on Reddit, he writes: "I'm planning to take this run ~2 minutes lower in the coming days and weeks, so stay tuned. A round 1 tyson at the end is the goal."

You don't have to be overly familiar with the mechanics of Punch Out to realize how impressive the run is. Playing any game with a bag over your head is hard enough, but it's even more so when the whole point is reacting to your opponent. But of course, when you've speedrun a game hundreds of times, the patterns will become easier to memorize - albeit usually with the aid of visual cues.

SummoningSalt makes quick work of Little Mac's foes, knowing exactly when to dodge the attacks he can't even see. As someone who doesn't run the game, it's hard to see how it can be optimized even further, but apparently, it can.

However, one that game won't see any more optimization is the original Super Mario Bros. As was recently reported (incidentally, also by SummoningSalt), every single frame that is possible to save - that a human player could pull off - has now been saved. It is literally impossible to save any more time in this game. This comes after years of both human and bot players picking it apart, discovering all of its secrets. Using every single save, the lowest possible time would be 4:54.26. Now, we just need someone to pull that off.
