GG Group, founded in 2018 by Billy Levy and Zack Zeldin with esports entrepreneur Steven Salz, has recently acquired Chaos Esports Club and Do Not Peek Entertainment. The deal adds names such as Logic, Pusha-T, Upscale Vandal, Chris Zarou and Summer Watson to its board as co-owners.
In a statement, President of GG Group Ramon Gamble said it hopes to address issues of racial injustice and disparity within the gaming community by signing members of underrepresented communities to Chaos’ non-competitive roster with the help of leaders in entertainment, media, tech, fashion, gaming and professional sports.
“I’ve been a part of this ownership group close to two years now and since the beginning, my main call to action was to focus on the lack of inclusion and diversity in the gaming industry,” Pusha T told Complex. “Any business I’m a part of has to be proactive in using its resources and platform to support the fight against social injustice.”
Chaos has directly addressed current issues such as the global coronavirus pandemic, which has infected over 20 million globally, claimed nearly one million lives and resulted in over 40 million people losing their jobs and access to healthcare in the United States. The organization has also referenced the protests against police brutality triggered by the murders of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, and Ahmaud Arbery.
In 2020, the company will continue to support organizations, such as NYC Revolutionaries and the Equal Justice Initiative, fighting against systemic racism, police brutality, mass incarceration and disparities within the justice system. GG Group hopes to use its platform for the greater good by calling on anyone with “high impact opportunities for us to serve and support with our resources and networks.”
In addition, GG Group intends to use the Chaos platform to create immersive gaming content, including livestream events, short-form features, and more. Pusha T recently has supported the CS:GO team after Chaos EC’s 2-1 win over 100 Thieves in the ESL One Cologne NA online qualifiers. Chaos has earned an estimated $5 million in competitive tournament winnings in the last five years, and they don't appear to be slowing down any time soon.
