We could all use some more Tetris and Puyo Puyo in our lives, so it's convenient as hell that Puyo Puyo Tetris 2 is available on both current and next-generation platforms today. Releasing for $39.99 on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch, you'll get the chance to experience a brand new story mode with a ton of returning characters and new additions to the cast.
If that wasn't enough, a limited time "launch edition" of the game will be available that includes some bonus gems based around the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise. You can dress up your tetrominoes or puyos as Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, and more and then drop them on each other until they explode. Nothing says love like blowing up something cute.
In all seriousness, Puyo Puyo Tetris 2 is another solid installment in this once impossible crossover. It doesn't radically deviate from the original but does give fans even more ways to experience these puzzle juggernauts together in one package. Make sure to download the day one update if you grab a physical version as it will allow you to retain your replay data from any matches.
As for the PC version, Sega is still aiming for a Q1 2021 release on Steam. Sadly, no crossplay is available on any version, so you'll be limited to the ecosystem of whichever console you happen to buy it for. In that case, simply buy the version for the device you play the most, ensuring you'll be able to find online matches as quickly as possible.
