Rainbow Six Siege players have discovered an amusing but rather annoying way to remain active during online matches even when AFK.

Remain inactive for long enough while playing online and you will likely get kicked from a match or a lobby. The assumption is that you have abandoned your post, or perhaps even started up another match accidentally despite going to grab a snack. Even though it won't do much good for your stats or your K/D, finding a way to complete matches while not even playing the game can be worthwhile as it wil gradually earn you more in-game currency in a lot of cases.

That's the case in Rainbow Six Siege in which players earn roughly 200 Renown for completing a match. That's why in Japan, some savvy players have figured out a way to keep the matches rolling even when they are nowhere to be seen. Not just the one, but match after match thanks to the circle button being used to select and confirm things on PS4 in Japan as opposed to the cross.

The Siege players are modding their controllers so the circle button is pressed over and over again. That results in the menus being cycled through at the end of each match so that a new one can begin automatically. Circle is also Siege's crouch button which is essential for the process. It means the player is constantly moving throughout the match, meaning they aren't subsequently booted for inactivity.

The end result can be seen in the clip above. Hilarious to watch, but incredibly frustrating for anyone else on their team as there's nothing they can do about it other than try to prevent them from being taken out by rival players. The only silver lining here is that the exploit can only be taken advantage of when playing Siege on PS4. Sony controversially decided to change the mapping on PS5 so that the cross is confirm everywhere, including Japan.

Short of switching what buttons you have to press to cycle through the menus and start a new match, it's difficult to see how Ubisoft will fix this problem. Another option could be to kick players who aren't constantly crouching, and also have people who find players doing this to report whoever they find. Until then, the method will help you earn enough Renown to eventually unlock Flores. At 26,000 Renown, however, that's an awful lot of squatting.
