Indie games publisher Raw Fury and Sonic the Hedgehog production company Dj2 entertainment have just announced a new first look deal that could see three indie games adapted for either TV or film.

First reported by Variety, the deal mentions Sable, Night Call, and Mosaic as the three titles currently being looked at. Other Raw Fury games that might also see adaptations for other media include Call of the Sea, Dandara, The Signifier, and Norco.

Dj2 specializes in turning video games into movies and TV shows, having previously worked on the Life is Strange adaptation and the Sonic the Hedgehog movie. It's also working on the upcoming Tomb Raider anime for Netflix as well as adaptations of Disco Elysium, Sleeping Dogs, and Little Nightmares.

“There’s so much to love about working with the Raw Fury team,” said Dj2 CEO Dmitri M. Johnson. “Including the team’s incredible taste for some of the most unique, beautiful, and innovative games today…Having access to Raw Fury’s incredible slate allows dj2 to begin developing adaptations even before a game is released, getting a jump on the market as well as allowing for more synergy between the different media”

Raw Fury has an extensive catalog of games with rich narratives that would be perfect for movies or TV shows. Sable is the sci-fi story of a young woman traveling on her rite of passage through a vast alien desert, while Night Call is a noir tale of a Paris cab driver trying to stop a serial killer. Mosaic is an abstract surreal adventure of trying to find meaning in the modern world.

“Entering into a partnership with dj2 feels like a perfect fit for Raw Fury,” said Raw Fury CEO Jónas Antonsson. “Their creativity and ability to take the core of each game and transform it into new art forms fit the Raw Fury vision and we are excited to work together and see what we will create.”

It’s still too early to tell which, if any, of Raw Fury’s games might become TV shows, but stay tuned to find out.
