Rayman Legends is finally getting an official Switch release in China, following hot on the heels of its board approval in March. The game is expected to launch on April 15 and will retail for RMB 134 ($20 USD).

Rayman Legends will also get a free demo in the region, giving players a chance to test out the game before dropping money on the classic platformer. Originally released in 2013, Rayman Legends garnered positive reviews from nearly all critics and quickly became one of the best platformers released that year. It's surprising it took so long for the family-friendly game to release in China – although its rules and regulations are incredibly stringent compared to other locations.

A sequel to 2011's Rayman Origins, Legends takes place several years after the events of the original game, although you'll once again step into the floating shoes of Rayman. The 10 princesses of Rayman's world have been captured by the Dark Teensies, and it's up to him and a few friends to save the day. And with over 120 levels, there's a lot of content to keep players busy.

Rayman Legends was one of more than 30 games approved by China's National Press and Publication Administration in March. Other titles on the list include:

  • Guardian Tales
  • Diablo Immortal
  • EVE: Echoes
  • Pokemon Quest
  • Super Mario Party
  • War of the Visions: Final Fantasy Brave Exvius

Games typically take much longer to release in China than in other regions, due to harsh regulations. In fact, when Steam finally arrived in China back in February, the service only had 53 games – the others either didn't pass the board of regulations or were waiting for approval.

While video games are still big business in China, so too is cheat making. Last month, the "world's largest" cheat operation was shut down by Chinese Police – after having made more than $76 million. Ten people were arrested in the raid, and more than $46 million in assets were confiscated.

Rayman Legends is expected to launch in China on April 15.
