The Basilisk Ultimate is the newest wireless mouse from Razer and is, without a doubt, the most feature packed wireless mouse they've ever made. Whether you're focused on performance, convenience, customization, or comfort, the Basilisk Ultimate is truly the ultimate wireless mouse.

HyperSpeed Wireless And Optical Superiority

Razer's HyperSpeed Wireless technology is second to none, using ultra-fast radio frequencies to speed up the data transmission to your PC and Adaptive Frequency Technology to avoid interference. I have no idea how any of it works, but I know that the Basilisk Ultimate is the most reliable wireless mouse I've ever used.

Many players shun wireless devices for gaming because of bad experiences they've had in the past. Personally, I've tested several wireless headphones that suffered from interference with my router and other connected devices. This mouse had had virtually zero interference in my setup and has performed as good, if not better, than any wired mouse I've ever used.  In the last couple weeks of using it to play Destiny 2, I had only one weird issue when the mouse just fully stopped working until I unplugged the adapter. It didn't die, and could just as likely be a problem with my PC or USB port as with the mouse.

Bottom line: the wireless just works. The rest of the Basilisk Ultimate's impressive performance is all about it's Focus+ Optical Sensor and Optical Mouse Switch. The sensor is unique for a number of reasons. It has an insane 20,000 DPI and 650 IPS, which even Razer admits is absurdly fast and really meant for bragging rights. Even so, the mouse is incredibly responsive and very easy to set up to your preferred sensitivity, even if its unimaginably high like 20,000. Razer has also developed smart tracking for the Basilisk Ultimate so that it does not need to be calibrated for individual surfaces and mouse pads, meaning the mouse will always be perfectly accurate.

The optical switches have a 0.2 millisecond response time, 3 times faster than traditional mechanical switches. The optical switches provide not only the fastest response, but are much more durable than mechanical switches.

3 Ways To Play Makes The Basilisk Ultimate Extra Convenient

The Basilisk Ultimate can be used either wired with the included USB (which also charges the device) or wireless with the included USB dongle. It also comes with a charging dock that extends the range of the wireless, meaning there's actually 3 different ways to connect the mouse, which turns out is incredibly useful.

The charging dock sits at the edge of my desk when I'm playing, giving me the strongest connection possible, and when I'm done I just rest the mouse on the dock to charge (though with a 100 hour battery life, I seldom actually need to do that). When I leave home and want to take the mouse with me, I simply pull the usb dongle out of the charging dock and tuck in the compartment under the mouse. Then, I can put that dongle into my laptop or any other computer to continue using the mouse. Its incredibly easy to switch machines with it - I don't have to crawl under my desk and unplug anything, and I don't have to worry about charging it when I go on a trip either (though if it did die any micro-USB would charge it). I used to have a travel mouse and a home mouse, but now I use the Basilisk Ultimate in every situation. It's better to get used to the feel of one mouse anyway, so I'm glad this one has so many options.

Your Head Will Spin At All The Customization You Can Do.

Speaking of options, the Basilisk Ultimate is packed with features when it comes to buttons and lighting. There are 11 customizable buttons, including 3 thumb buttons, 3 on the scroll wheel, and 2 to toggle your sensitivity up and down to different profiles for different games. I love the resistance dial on the button that allows you to adjust whether the mouse wheel spins freely or has big chunky clicks between each spin. The mouse also has that nice thumb lip to help keep your hand completely off of your mouse pad.

Razer went all out with the Chroma regions on the Basilisk Ultimate. There are 14 programmable lighting zones between the mouse and the charging dock and unlimited ways customize them using Razer Synapse 3. There are 6 quick effects to chose from if you want the mouse the cycle through colors, react to clicking, or act as an audio meter, and you can sync the mouse and charging dock to have the same effects. In fact, you can sync them will all of your Chroma enabled devices, including Razer keyboards, headphones, and even the awesome new Firefly V2 mouse pads, making Razer one of the coolest gaming ecosystems out there.

Razer Synapse has been redesigned for its 3rd version and is super easy to navigate and customize your devices with. You can set lighting and input profiles for different activities, change the brightness of each device and create amazingly intricate lighting set ups in chroma studio.

The Basilisk Ultimate solved my need for multiple mouses with its versatile connection options, it proved to me that wireless gaming hardware can be reliable, and it really impressed me with the level of customization available in lightning and inputs. There are very few downsides to speak off: It's right-handed and you can't adjust the weight, but that's about it. I would recommend the Basilisk Ultimate to anyone who's had a bad experience with a wireless mouse in the past, I think it just might change your mind.

The Basilisk Ultimate is available now on Razer's website.
