Update: On July 2, Reckful's passing at the age of 31 was confirmed by his roommate.

Fans are becoming increasingly concerned with Reckful's use of psilocybin, the active ingredient in magic mushrooms.

So in case you didn't know, famed Twitch streamer Byron "Reckful" Bernstein is a psilocybin user. That's the stuff that makes you hallucinate whenever you eat magic mushrooms, but it's also becoming increasingly studied for its health effects. Recent studies have pointed at psilocybin as possibly being effective in treating anxiety and depression, which are things that Reckful has struggled with in the past.

Or maybe he's still struggling with them. Reckful streams regularly with Dr. Kanojia, a trained addiction psychologist, and openly admits to his mental health issues.

However, some fans are becoming more and more concerned with Reckful's psilocybin intake. On a recent video stream, it seems like he may have had a bad trip.

The clip begins with Byron speaking to a friend in Austin and suddenly becoming alarmed. "Something weird happened," he says. "The simulation was just revealed. Did I just have the most intense deja-vu I've ever had? Or... what just happened?"

He then turns to the friend and asks, "Am I a robot?" To which she replies "yes," which probably didn't help. We don’t get to see the aftermath of that clip, but we can’t imagine it going anywhere entertaining, otherwise it would have been posted on Twitch.

Comments on the Reddit post seem to be raising the alarm with Reckful's bizarre behavior recently. Although in a recent stream Reckful assures his fans that he's not suicidal, he also admitted that he's been suicidal before and that he's currently not on his medication. In previous streams, he's also admitted that psilocybin is the only thing keeping him from "jumping over the edge." He didn't say exactly what he'd jump into, but it can't be anything good.

Here’s hoping that Reckful goes back on his meds. Or that psilocybin turns out to be better at treating depression than we thought. Either or.
