Rocky Mountain Elk are classified as Bull or Cow Elk depending on their sex and differentiated by the prominent set of horns donned by the male Bull Elk. They roam a wide range making specific spawn points harder to decipher. But they keep to the regions of West Elizabeth, New Hanover, and most prominently in Ambardino.

West Elizabeth

Elk will roam the western length of West Elizabeth. Here are some of the common grazing grounds and watering holes they like to inhabit.

Tall Trees.

  • The Aurora Basin.
  • Owanjila lake.
  • The banks of Little Creek River running along West Elizabeth’s northernmost border.
  • Wallace Station and Cumberland Falls.

Ambardino

Elk tend to crossover into Ambardino near Cumberland Falls, much like the Bighorn Ram that keep to similar stomping grounds.

  • The first place to check along the Elks’ route is near Cattail Pond, west of Valentine.
  • Elk tend to stick to Ambardino’s Cumberland Forest primarily and along the stretch of Dakota River north of the forest.
  • They can be found scattered a little further north near areas like the Tempest Rim, the Wapiti Indian Reservation, and to the other side of Donner Falls.

New Hanover

  • Roanoke Ridge in the northern stretches of New Hanover is a prime location to find Elk in RDO. They enjoy roaming the valleys and make their homes within the surrounding caves.
  • Elk also frequent the banks of the Dakota River on the opposite side of New Hanover, especially on either side of the river bends near Caliban’s Seat.

Legendary Katata Elk

The Legendary Katata Elk sports a distinctively black coat and antlers. You can find this rare variant roaming Cumberland Forest with its more commonplace relatives.

You’ll have hopes of sighting one anywhere between 6 am and 9 pm. However, this dark legendary beast does enjoy the cool of night and foggy weather.

Legendary Ozula Elk

The Legendary Ozula Elk is the only breed of Elk capable of weathering New Austin’s arid climate. This rare beast with a strikingly red coat contrasted by its black antlers has been spotted roaming the entire span of Cholla Springs. We have marked this exclusive Elk location in white on the map above.

This unique breed of Elk still does its best to avoid the stifling heat of its southern climate, appearing only between the hours of 6 pm and 6 am during foggy weather.

Legendary Inhame Elk

The Legendary Inahme Elk may be the most uniquely patterned of the Elk breeds, with a snow-white coat and dark red antlers. However, you won’t ever find it roaming along with the common Elk rabble.

You’ll need to attain rank five in The Naturalist role in order to lay eyes on this rare beauty. And then it can only be tracked down during Harriet Davenport’s Legendary Animal Sighting Missions. Once you’ve met these prerequisites, head to Spider Gorge in the Grizzlies West region of Ambardino
