Red Dead Redemption 2 hasn't been out on PC for very long, but the modding community hasn't wasted any time cracking the game open to create some good content. It will be interesting to see what they come up with in a year's time, but they're off to a good start, already.

Here's 10 of the best mods you can download right now for Red Dead Redemption 2. Hopefully this makes your next playthrough a better one!

10 LONGER DAYS

This one needs no introduction. Longer Days is a simple mod that allows you to customize the length of a normal day with an easy to use config file system, which is perfect for those who like more realism and immersion in their games.

Modifying the config file allows you to alter the amount of seconds you'd like per in-game minute, with separators for both night and day. You can even switch what time a new day technically begins and ends, which makes tweaking your settings a breeze.

9 HUNTING WAGON

No sense making a business out of pelt and animal gathering if you don't have the right vehicle for transport. Hunting Wagon introduces a scripted system that spawns at your camp, and can be tracked via radar or map.

Holding down the Stow key near the wagon will allow you to store pelts and animals in the back, which is great for outdoor excursions. Be warned, though. Dying or reloading will cause you to lose whatever you placed in the wagon, and there might be the occasional collision glitch or two. Hopefully ThreeSocks3 will continue to update this immersion mod to get rid of these issues.

8 BANK ROBBERIES

Feel like going rogue in the wild wild west? The best way is to rob a bank, old-school style! Bank Robberies lets you strut into any bank, point your pistol at the guy behind the counter, and that's all she wrote!

Naturally, this won't do much for your legal status, so be prepared to incur the wrath of the law in no time. Still, it's a great way to get into the spirit of being a bad guy! We'd like to see the mod incorporate cool new elements as it receives updates, including scripted horse chase sequences.

7 PED DAMAGE OVERHAUL

For a little more excitement during gunfire battles and other fights, PED Damage Overhaul is the one to choose. This mod alters the behavior of NPCs to make them more realistic. They will stumble if their leg is injured, roll around in agony after being hurt, and clutching any open wounds.

There are two versions of the mod, with the Realistic option tweaking weapon damage for more realism. Pick your preferred style, and make Red Dead Redemption 2 a bit grittier than the base vanilla game.

6 NO AUTO RELOAD

Auto reload is for wussies. Yes, we said it. You're a big kid! You can darn well reload your own gun without the game doing it for you! No Auto Reload offers this option by preventing weapons from doing it automatically once they run out of quarters.

It's a simple DLL mod that injects into the game and puts the onus on the person that matters. That'd be you, gangster!

5 RDR2 FOV - WIDESCREEN MOD

Ultra-widescreen gamers will want to snatch this mod up as quickly as possible in order to customize how the game handles their 21:9 or other screen resolution. RDR2 FOV concentrates heavily on field of view, but it also lets you banish black bars from cutscenes.

Quick note to exercise your own due diligence here, as the mod author claims that anti-virus software will incorrectly label this a virus, when in fact it is technically a hack-tool. Let's hope a new version comes out that doesn't have to rely on this approach anymore, but we take no responsibility for your use of the mod in its current form.

4 QUICK TOGGLE HUD AND MINIMAP

For the ultimate in cinematic immersion, you'll need to get rid of those pesky HUD elements so that you can focus on the world in front of you. There are many mods for games like Skyrim which can hide the HUD with a simple press of a button, and Quick Toggle Hud and Minimap is one of them.

Simply pressing the PAGE UP key will toggle both the HUD and mini-map, so you can choose to see them only when it's desirable. The rest of the time, you'll be flying solo with the breeze in your hair!

3 BETTER KEYBINDS (IN-GAME MENUS WITH WASD)

Interacting with in-game menus should be easy, and many gamers like to use the W, A, S and D keys rather than the mouse, or other key bindings. Better Keybinds is designed with this purpose in mind.

There are two versions of the mod. One changes W, A, S, and D support only, while the other can change many existing keybinds for things like camera switching, interactions and quick use.

2 HYPOTHERMOD

Just as Frostfall added a sense of harsh realism to the colder climates of Skyrim, Hypothermod brings the same experience to Red Dead Redemption 2. The mod factors in temperature, wind speed and how wet you are, then decides how best to punish you for it.

Hypothermia and freezing death can occur, depending on what state you're in. That means warming up and taking appropriate precautions when the weather gets chilly. It's another way to further lose yourself in the game world.

1 MY HORSE KEY

Nothing's worse than inadvertently stealing the wrong horse, and facing down the ire of someone who wants to knock your teeth out over it. My Horse Key assigns the T key specifically to the binding of your own horse. Once you've decided which one you want, use T to make sure you're always getting on your horse, and your horse alone.

The E key will still function the same as before, so here's to hoping the mod author finds a way to change the delivery method so that you don't accidentally mix up the two keys out of habit, or by mistake. Still, it's a great step in the right direction.
