Looking for the upper hand in Red Dead Redemption 2? If so, Trinkets should be at the top of your shopping list — these are items that grant passive perks to numerous stats. There are 15 Trinkets you can acquire in Red Dead Redemption 2, each one providing a unique bonus to the player.

Most Trinkets can be made following the same strategy — skin a Legendary Animal, pick up the required crafting component, then head to the nearest Fence and craft the Trinket. The great thing about Trinkets is that you don't even have to equip them to reap their benefits. Instead, just make sure you keep them in your inventory.

All the Legendary Animals associated with Trinkets can be found using the map given to you by Hosea after completing the Legendary Bear Hunt in Chapter 2. Here is a complete list of Trinkets that can be crafted, along with their associated bonuses:

  • Beaver Tooth Trinket: Weapon Deterioration decreased by 10%, crafted with Legendary Beaver Tooth.
  • Buck Antler Trinket: Increases the chance of acquiring higher-quality animal skins, crafted with Legendary Buck Antler.
  • Cougar's Paw Trinket: Reduce Deadeye Core drain by 10% for 3 seconds once triggered, crafted with Legendary Cougar's Paw.
  • Coyote Fang Trinket: Dead Eye XP gain increased by 10%, crafted with Legendary Coyote Fang.
  • Elk Antler Trinket: Loot increased by 10%, crafted with Legendary Elk Antler.
  • Fox Claw Trinket: Eagle Eye duration increased by five seconds, crafted with Legendary Fox Claw.

  • Wolf Heart Trinket: Getting drunk requires twice as much alcohol, crafted with Legendary Wolf Heart.

A few Trinkets must be acquired in a different way than the above — these include the Iguana Scale Trinket and the Owl Feather Trinket. The Owl Feather Trinket can be earned by completing the Archeology for Beginners mission in Chapter 6 without any kills. Considering this is one of the most powerful Trinkets in the game, it's worth the extra effort. As for the Iguana Scale Trinket, players will need to have the Special or Ultimate Edition of Red Dead Redemption 2 in order to snag it.

  • Owl Feather Trinket: Increase all cores by 15%
  • Iguana Scale Trinket: Damage reduced by 10% when riding on a horse.

Even if you lose the legendary skin during your adventures, you'll still be able to craft these Trinkets since the required items are deposited directly to your inventory. Plus, if you forget to pick anything else up, they'll be sent to the Fence. That means you don't have to stress about losing track of any items due to overgrown foliage or hazardous conditions.

Trinkets are a great way to increase your abilities in Red Dead Redemption 2. They don't have to be equipped, they offer generous bonuses, and their benefits stack with Talismans. Tracking down and slaying Legendary Animals isn't an easy task, so be sure to check out our Hunting Guide if you need extra help. It's worth going out of your way to track these beasts down, as the benefits conferred by their associated Trinkets will make you a force to be reckoned with.
