An impressive new vinyl soundtrack is coming for all the collectors out there, but they are going to need to wait, as pre-orders are already sold out.
Rockstar Games has announced a new limited vinyl edition of The Music of Red Dead Redemption 2: Original Soundtrack. Games made by Rockstar, especially the Grand Theft Auto series, typically have great soundtracks filled with licensed music. 2018’s Red Dead Redemption II was true to form, though there were more original tracks in its case, compared to the Grand Theft Auto series.
The soundtrack was produced by Daniel Lanois, who has multiple platinum-selling releases and has won 11 Grammy Awards. All the music in the soundtrack was created exclusively for the game and features the talents of some award-winning artists, including D’Angelo, Willie Nelson, Rhiannon Giddens, and Josh Homme.
The Music of Red Dead Redemption 2: Original Soundtrack is currently sold out for the limited pre-order at the Lakeshore Records Online Store, but will be available for purchase at all major vinyl retailers on September 20. The vinyl version comes as a 2 x LP set pressed on 180-gram, translucent red vinyl inside a gatefold package with printed sleeves. A digital version of the soundtrack is already available on major streaming platforms.
Here’s a full tracklist of the upcoming set:
- Unshaken - D'Angelo – 3:53 mins
- Moonlight - Daniel Lanois, Daryl Johnson, Joseph Maize, Darryl Hatcher and Rhiannon Giddens 3:47 mins
- That's The Way It Is - Daniel Lanois 4:08 mins
Red Dead Redemption II's soundtrack was one of the most fitting of this generation. Many of them were illustrative of the life of protagonist Arthur Morgan and had resonating lyrics as such. While it's still disappointing that the house-building isn't included in the soundtrack, players can still hope for a standalone digital release. As for the vinyl record, mark your calendar with a trip to your local record shop on September 20th.
