There are more clues appearing now that we may be inching closer to the announcement of a PC port for Red Dead Redemption 2, which is fantastic news as the game has proven itself rich in single player and multiplayer online content.

Still, clues are all we have had to work with since the release of the game for console, as Rockstar Games has been sure to remain mysterious and silent regarding any plans to launch onto the PC platform. The most recent clue comes in the form of the source code below.

Among the other pieces off code, Twitter user JakoMako51 points to the sudden inclusion and reference to achievements for the PC. As developers often add in relevant code for the future, far ahead of its actual use, this may indicate that a plan is in place for years down the line, or at worst, it might not even be a reference to a PC port.

Other recent clues have been in the form of statements made by those who would be charge of such decisions at Rockstar games. Recently, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick has said to investors that there is "No downside" to the potential release of the game to the PC.

Later on, Zelnick was prompted by another investor who stated releasing Red Dead Redemption 2 to PC players would be a "layup,” as in an easy task to accomplish with nothing but profit to gain, to which Zelnick responded by stating that, “There is no downside to releasing the game on PC.”

What is a bit surprising is that Rockstar has taken so long to make the port for the PC. This is not said from the perspective of one who wants to play the game on their PC, but rather from a proven history of success for their similar project Grand Theft Auto V, which even today maintains a well-populated, profitable online community of PC, PS4, and Xbox One players, and to a lesser degree, players on the PS3 and Xbox 360.

Red Dead Redemption 2 online so far seems to have planned content for years to come, so from a pure financial standpoint, what on earth are they waiting for? Do they not like profits?

Whatever the reason, this writer bets that the game will certainly have a PC port at some point in the future, and for now simply wonders why Rockstar is not rushing forward to announce a port and cash in on what would surely be a large amount of pre-order cash.
