Surprise surprise, friends - Red Dead Redemption 2’s release has been delayed and Rockstar has announced that we’re now looking at a super vague date of ‘Q2 2018.’ Well, nuts to everyone and everything.
With the best part of a year left to go, then, we’ve got to occupy our damn time somehow. We could hop on back to the original Red Dead Redemption in the meantime, and play blackjack for hours (and hours and hours), or we could set to pondering some of the big questions about the upcoming title. One of the biggest of these concerns the mysterious main character.
As fans know, Red Dead Redemption hero John Marston was filled full of lead as the game reached its conclusion. The scuttlebutt on the street, then, is that we’re dealing with an entirely new protagonist, and perhaps just a single man this time around. Redditor Dingid_Forester has put together some images from the promotional material, and they sure seem to be putting the same man right up on center stage every time.
The image above shows an enigmatic, super burly cowboy, with a fine taste in turquoise shirts. The image is spliced together from stills, screengrabs from trailers and the like, showing just how frequently this guy seems to have been cropping up in what we’ve seen of Red Dead Redemption 2 thus far.
There are a few things we can probably glean from this. If we are indeed looking at the player character of Red Dead 2, there’s likely to be a heaping helping of melee combat in the game - he certainly seems burly enough to swing an ax around. He’s looking like a very likely candidate for the lead role, but who knows for sure? There’s a long road until launch, and a lot of speculating to do.
