It's safe to say that the Guarma chapter on Red Dead Redemption 2 is the game's strangest-yet-most-aesthetically-beautiful chapter. Before reaching Guarma, you've spent hours surviving the lifestyle of an outlaw, dealing against enemies pulling you down from every direction, and the crummy life of New Hanover & Lemoyne. It's nice to have a change of pace with a refreshing sight of this beautiful tropical island. On this sugar plantation island, Arthur helped rebels fight off Alberto Fussar's dictatorship before the gang headed back to America.

However, some fans still have questions upon finishing this chapter. So, on the following list, we're exploring some of the unanswered questions about Guarma and present the most reasonable explanation behind them.

10 Why Did Rockstar Develop Little Content for Guarma?

Although the Guarma chapter only serves as some kind of filler in Arthur's journey, it does deserve better. This chapter exposed the real menace of the gang's leader, Dutch Van der Linde, and his narcissistic, paranoia, and sadistic nature. It's proven when he and Arthur go into a cave to meet a shady elderly woman, to reveal the hidden path to Aguasdulces in their quest of rescuing Javier.

Just before the exit, the woman asked for more gold, only for Dutch to strangle her to death. Red Dead 2 might be a masterpiece, but if Rockstar would emphasize more on this chapter, it surely will make the impact more harrowing.

9 How Far Guarma Actually Is to 'Tahiti' & 'Australia'

Throughout the game, Dutch and his men would continue to make that one final big score before entirely disappearing from the criminal world, thus winning him a nickname among the fans as 'Dutch Plan der Linde.' He always boasted about how he's had a plan to move the gang to Tahiti, the South Pacific tropical island where he could 'harvest mangoes' & 'be reborn.'

After another bank robbery-gone-wrong, the gang was deserted to the Guarma island, prompting a sarcastic question from Arthur, "Is it anywhere near Australia or Tahiti?" If Guarma is located near Cuba, it means that it's 'only' 8.927 km far to Tahiti and 16,765 km to Australia. Pretty much 'on the way,' eh?

8 What Happened to Leon & Baptise?

On a mission titled Savagery Unleashed from the Guarma chapter, Arthur was trying to save Guarman workers from getting hanged before he was knocked unconscious by Angel, his captor, and Alberto Fussar's lead inquisitor. Then, he woke up with his hands tied but managed to set himself free while Angel was occupied with Leon and Baptiste.

Soon, Arthur knocked his captor down, cut Leon and Baptiste loose, and helped them fight the militia to save the workers. Baptiste gave him some money and wished him luck on his quest to return to America, and nobody really knows if they made out alive it after that night.

7 How Did Dutch Know Gloria?

As we've mentioned earlier, Gloria was the old con-artist that Dutch and Arthur encountered at some point in Guarma to free Javier. Given that both Arthur and Dutch arrived on the same day in Guarma, there's almost nothing to tell about how Dutch connected through her.

She also lived inside a cave, making it harder for anyone to pass by unless they actually know who she was. It would be interesting to find out how Dutch met Gloria for the first time, wouldn't it?

6 And Why Did Dutch Have to Go That Far on Killing Her?

We all know Dutch's ruthless and unforgiving nature, like when he once promised never to hesitate to eliminate anyone from the gang who snitched, but why did he have to go that far to kill Gloria? Yes, she was a gold-digging degenerate who pointed her knife at him when she asked for more gold, but she could easily be disarmed.

Even if Dutch doesn't manage of fighting her off, Arthur's presence was not for nothing. He could quickly help the boss and neutralize Gloria. Although it's a filler chapter, this particular scene serves as one of the most eye-opening conversations that helped Arthur see better in life.

5 How Many Rare Animals Can Actually Be Found on Guarma Island?

If you're tired of running from the law, hunting animals on Red Dead Redemption 2 is the most fun thing to do. If you've reached Guarma, don't proceed with the missions quickly because at least a couple of animals can be found on this picturesque tropical island.

It ranges from Blue and Yellow Macaw, Cuban Land Crab, Fer-de-Lance Snake, Great Green Macaw, Green Iguana, Rainbow Boa Snake, Red Boa Snake, Red-footed Booby, Scarlet Macaw, and Sunglow Boa Snake. Make sure to have the most suitable weapon to hunt each animal to get the best meat.

4 How Did Fussar Form a Close Relationship With Leviticus Cornwall?

Before Guarma, Arthur and co had actually met Alberto Fussar before on the party held by the Mayor of Saint-Denis' where they eventually met Angelo Bronte.

Eventually, fate reunited them once again on the Guarma island, Fussar's territory. We all know what happened to the dictator next and how Arthur destroyed his tower, killing him in the process, but aren't you curious about how Fussar made a well-maintained connection with Leviticus Cornwall and how he ended up calling the Guarman Governor "a great friend of America"?

3 What Happened to Hercule Fontaine?

Thanks to Arthur, Hercule Fontaine, and his people got what they deserved: the freedom against Fussar the Oppressor. By the time the Guarma chapter ends, Arthur and the gang parted ways with Hercule, and he does not make an appearance on the game, even in the newspaper.

Yes, they got what they want, but it would be better if Rockstar at least put out a piece of news on what unfolded later for him. That would be a good send-off to a live-saving character of the game.

2 What Happened to Alberto Fussar's Dictatorship?

The Guarma chapter ended with Alberto Fussar's dictatorship coming into an end with Arthur firing his cannon at his tower. So, what's life for the people of Guarma after that? After such a revolutionary fight, would they elect a new governor that actually does prosper their land and not enslave them?

There are not many details we can dig out of reach, but it would be nice if Rockstar put out an Easter egg about what happens next to them, maybe in the newspaper or flyers.

1 Where Is Guarma Located in Real Life?

On their games from the Grand Theft Auto to the Red Dead series, Rockstar has always based the cities on real-life cities: Liberty City (New York), Los Santos (Los Angeles), New Hanover (real-life Hannover in Germany), and so on.

So, where does this beautiful Guarma island actually located? Besides the fact that it's the 'second island east of Cuba,' there aren't so many official details we can dig out. Many fans believe that it was based on Puerto Rico or Guayama due to its tropical resemblance, but as long as there is no official explanation from Rockstar, fans can only theorize.
