23 Hosea Matthews

Age

55

Birthday

Sometime In 1844

Height

Believed To Be 5'10

Hosea is Dutch's right hand and typically the voice of reason in the group. In fact, he's pretty much the only person who can keep Dutch somewhat on the straight and narrow. He's also the oldest member of the gang, which is why all the other members look up to him and seek out his advice.

Hosea met Dutch when they were both trying to rob each other at a campfire. After that, they quickly became friends, and the rest is history.

22 Bill Williamson

Age

33

Birthday

Sometime In 1866

Height

Believed To Be 6'1

A former member of the army, Bill Williamson is a tough guy who found a purpose in Dutch's gang, making him super loyal to Dutch even after he goes insane by the end of the game.

He is a skilled rifleman and is in charge of the explosives. He is an almost decent man at one point. But by the time he leaves the gang, he is amoral, ruthless, and a darker person overall.

21 Micah Bell

Age

39

Birthday

Sometime In 1860

Height

Believed To Be 5'10

If there were an award for the most hated character in a video game, Micah would be there in the top spots. He earns that title throughout Red Dead Redemption 2 by being as horrible as possible, from making racist comments to making fun of people's serious illnesses.

If you were trying to defend the man, all you could say is thta he is a wild and unpredictable person. He is also a snitch as you discover late on.

20 Charles Smith

Age

27

Birthday

Sometome In 1885

Height

Believed To Be 6'4

When the game starts, Charles is one of the newest additions to the gang. What he lacks in outlaw experience, though, he makes up for with his strength and toughness. Plus, his hunting and tracking skills are better than most others, too.

His most important trait, however, is his honor. He's perhaps the most kind-hearted person in the gang, as evidenced by all his selfless actions, including burying fellow gang members who would otherwise be left to rot.

19 Lenny Summers

Age

19

Birthday

Sometime In 1880

Height

Believed To Be 5'11

Aside from John's son, Lenny is the youngest member of the gang. Despite his age, Lenny is quite capable, even getting to the point where Hosea and Arthur think of him as one of the gang's best men.

Unfortunately, he doesn't get time to really increase his standing in the crew. Yet, he remains loyal to the gang until his last breath. If only he'd lived longer, he may have helped stop the gang's downfall or at least given Arthur some backup when things fell apart.

18 Sadie Adler

Age

25

Birthday

Sometime In 1874

Height

Believed To Be 5'6

Sadie is among the fan-favorite characters in the game. At the start, she doesn't stand out too much, as she's simply a widow the gang saves. And you'd be forgiven for assuming she's just a damsel in distress. But she quickly proves to be much more than that.

She grows accustomed to the outlaw life and becomes an efficient gunslinger. Yet, despite being a ruthless killer, she is still a mostly honorable individual who is Arthur's true friend and stays loyal to him even after his death.

17 Karen Jones

Age

Around Her Mid-20s

Birthday

Likely Sometime In The 1870s

Height

Believed To Be 5'8

Don't get fooled by her pretty face, Karen knows very well what kind of life she's living and likes it. While she isn't the most ruthless killer, she is an overall capable crook. She is particularly good at distractions due to her being a skilled actress.

Outside of jobs, she is a fun person to have around. That is until things start going wrong for the gang, particularly Sean's death. At this point, she becomes a darker person who turns to alcohol to soothe her pain.

16 Uncle

Age

50

Birthday

Sometime In 1949

Height

Believed To Be 5'11

Uncle is a man that already lived his life; all he has left now is alcohol, a nasty case of lumbago, and the gang.

He's a loyal member of the crew, even if his actual contributions to the gang are questionable. After all, he spends more time avoiding work than doing it. But in the epilogue, he helps John out during the process of building Beecher's Hope. The Ranch becomes his home, too, as he stays with the Marston family.

15 Abigail Roberts

Age

22

Birthnday

Sometime In 1877

Height

Believed To Be 5'7

A former prostitute, Abigail is a member of the gang that you don't see too often outside of camp. This is because she doesn't typically participate in the big jobs. She does help around camp, though.

She is also John's on and off love interest and the mother of Jack. She often fights with John because he does not want to take responsibility for the family they have. Eventually, John settles down, and the three of them move to a ranch to try a new lifestyle, leaving behind their past as outlaws.

14 Jack Marston

Age

4

Birthday

Sometime In 1895

Height

Believed To Be 3'8

Jack is John's and Abigail's son. Therefore, the kid doesn't have a normal childhood. He grows up in the gang with no children of his own age around. At least he gets on with most of the adults in the crew, but they aren't exactly the best role models.

When he's not hanging with them, he's typically reading. In fact, he spends most of his time with a book in his hand. As a result, he becomes more intellectual than his father.

13 Simon Pearson

Age

48

Birthday

Sometime In 1851

Height

Believed To Be 6'0

The male members of the gang are typically expected to rob and kill to pay their way. However, Pearson is one of the few exceptions since he serves as the crew's cook. He takes what supplies he and the others can find and creates the best meals possible.

He doesn't stick with the gang right til the end, as he gets out when it starts to get really bad. As such, he gets one of the happier endings, as he starts a new life as a store owner in Rhodes.

12 Leopold Strauss

Age

53

Birthday

Sometime In 1846

Height

Believed To Be 5'7

In a gang filled with killers and thieves, it's hard to stand out as one of the cruelest members. Yet, Leopold Strauss does feel like one of the most dishonorable people in the crew.

He is a money lender who targets vulnerable people and effectively ruins their lives with his debts. Yet, when it's time to collect the money, he doesn't go himself. He sends one of the others - typically Arthur - to intimidate the desperate people he lends to.

11 Javier Escuella

Javier Escuella close up RDR2

Age

Around His Mid-20s

Birthday

Likely Sometime In The 1870s

Height

Believed To Be 5'9

An outlaw and a Mexican revolutionary, Javier was born to fight against the status quo. Like what happened with Hosea, Dutch met Javier when they both were trying to steal some chicken; after that, he offered Javier a spot in the gang.

Escuella is another character that appears in both games, though in different circumstances. He is a significant character in RDR2 but a secondary antagonist in RDR. He seems a much better person in the former.

10 Sean MacGuire

Sean MacGuire holding a gun

Age

Early To Mid-20s

Birthday

Around The Late 1870s

Height

Believed To Be 5'10

Sean comes from a long line of criminals, so it doesn't come as a surprise that he ended up in Dutch's gang. This Irish man is a cheerful person but overconfident in his abilities.

This leads to a few problems throughout the game. But it's hard to stay mad at the guy, as he's one of the funniest characters you will meet. Unfortunately, like many others before him, Sean is killed during one of the gang's shenanigans, breaking the group's spirit even more.

9 Mary-Beth Gaskill

Mary-Beth Gaskill standing up RDR2

Age

Early To Mid 20s

Birthday

Around The Late 1870s

Height

Believed To Be 5'5

Mary-Beth is one of the sweetest gang members who genuinely sees the rest of the group as her family. She isn't involved much in the main storyline, but she's a pleasure to have around.

You can often see her in the camp reading romance novels, which foreshadows her future as she later becomes a novelist under a pen name. So, thankfully, she has a life after the gang. This is because she has the sense to leave the crew before things go too bad.

8 Josiah Trelawny

Josiah Trelawny close up RDR2

Age

Between 40-55

Birthday

Likely Around The 1840s

Height

Believed To Be 5'9

Josiah is a peculiar character; he seems like a proper gentleman, but under that suit and top hat lies a skilled criminal and trickster.

He isn't always present in the group's life, coming and going as he pleases. He is still seen as an asset, though, as he provides information that nobody else in the group would have a chance of knowing. In the end, he leaves the gang for good when everything starts to fall apart.

7 Molly O'Shea

Age

Around Her Mid-20s

Birthday

Likely Sometime In The 1870s

Height

Believed To Be 5'5

Although Molly was born into a wealthy family back in Dublin, she ended up in America as a gang member and Dutch's love interest.

RELATED: Red Dead Redemption 2: Every Main Character's First And Last Line

She never quite fits in with the rest of the girls, mainly due to Molly thinking she doesn't have to participate in the camp's chores. So, she is perhaps the most hated member of the gang by the people in it. In the end, she is killed by Susan due to everyone thinking she is the rat.

6 Reverend Swanson

Reverend Swanson in RDR2

Age

Around His Mid-40s

Birthday

Sometime In The 1850s

Height

Believed To Be 5'10

A former clergyman, Swanson ended up choosing unholy pleasures like alcohol, drugs, and sex over his faith. This led to him losing his job before joining the Van Der Linde Gang.

At the start of the game, he seems to be in a worse state than everyone else in the group due to his addictions. Yet, while everything starts going wrong for everyone else, he begins to get better. And once he's fully sober, he leaves the gang to become a preacher in New York.

5 Tilly Jackson

Tilly Jackson in rdr2

Age

Early 20s

Birthday

Sometime In The Late 1870s To Early 1880s

Height

Believed To Be 5'4

Tilly knew the hardships of life at a young age. She is the daughter of a former slave and was kidnapped at the age of 12 by a gang that didn't always treat her right.

Eventually, Tilly got away from that group and crossed paths with Dutch, who took her in and even taught her how to read. Therefore, while being in the Van Der Linde gang isn't always great, it's better than her previous predicaments.

4 Susan Grimshaw

Susan Grimshaw in rdr2

Age

Mid To Late 40s

Birthday

Sometime In The 1850s

Height

Believed To Be 5'6

Susan is one of the gang's original members, back when it was only Dutch, Hosea, and Arthur. By RDR2, she is essentially the mother of the group who keeps everyone in line and organizes the camp.

She is primarily in charge of the women and constantly orders them around. In the end, a cheap shot from Micah takes her out unceremoniously. Sadly, her long-time friend and former lover, Dutch, doesn't seem to care about her passing.
