Released in 2018, Red Dead Redemption 2 may not be new, but fans still can't get enough of the heartbreaking emotional Western that introduced the world to Arthur Morgan. The game did a great job of reflecting a man's journey to finding self-forgiveness and facing his mortality.

Through the conversations in the game, characters like John Marston were on the receiving end of some pretty powerful and influential quotes. Let's now look at the 10 best quotes found in Red Dead Redemption 2.

10 I'm Happy.

While Arthur wasn't an educated man, he had a way with words that could make a room fill with laughter. He loved and was loyal to those around him, but tended to show it through a rough exterior filled with insults or jokes at someone's expense.

One of his best lines was a reply to Uncle where Arthur said, "As long as we get paid or you get shot, I'm happy." He was implying that even if the job was a bust he'd enjoy seeing Uncle get shot due to how annoying Arthur often though he was. Of course, he didn't want it to happen, but it made a solid joke.

9 We're All Doomed.

For as lovable and jovial as Arthur was, he had a knack for ending conversations with a blunt statement. During a conversation between Reverend Swanson and Javier Escuella where the Reverend says Javier is doomed while looking at Arthur, Arthur answers back with a succinct but truthful statement.

Arthur looks at Reverend Swanson and says, "We're all doomed, Reverend." A statement that the holy man of sin likely wanted to avoid as it brought reality harshly back into his view as he realized they were all traveling down a dangerous path.

8 Arthur's Soul.

Early in the game, there's a conversation that happens which foreshadows the death and burial of several characters, specifically Arthur, Hosea Matthews, and Lenny Summers.

They ask Arthur how he wants to be buried and after saying he doesn't care about that nonsense, he replies, "Face me to the west so I can watch the setting sun and remember all the fine times we had that way." Hosea, understanding Arthur does care about that nonsense, replies "See, Tilly. I told you Arthur had a soul."

7 Thank you.

When people discuss memorable quotes in entertainment many of them draw their ears towards speeches or long-running sentences. Sometimes the most memorable and moving quotes happen in specific moments where a few words are more than enough.

As the game reaches its end there comes a point where Arthur's horse gets killed and in a moment of empathy he leans down and embraces his steed while simply stating "Thank you." Animal lovers were brought to tears simply because a man showed that he genuinely cared for his horse.

6 Unlucky

Arthur lived a troubled life full of misery and sin, but he never wanted people to feel sorry for him. He understands that much of his troubles were his fault and he never felt right blaming someone or something else. You get a better understanding of this when Arthur sits down to gamble via the poker table.

He says, "I always wondered if I was unlucky...but maybe I'm just not very good." On its own, it's a funny line, but if you take what he's saying as a reflection of his life, it shows he understands he's lived an unsavory existence up until that point.

5 Go. Now.

During the game's climax, Arthur makes the decision to help John escape which directly leads to him being trapped, overwhelmed, and eventually killed at the hands of Micah Bell, and indirectly by Dutch.

Arthur tells John, "Go. Now. I'll hold them off. It would mean a lot to me...please." During this Arthur hands John his hat, which became the iconic one John wears in the first game. It's the last interaction the two ever had and was likely the moment Arthur came to peace with the fact he was about to meet his end.

4 I Gave You All I Had.

The franchise in general focuses on redemption as a theme and how people grow, change, and learn from their past mistakes. Arthur delivers several lines in the game that cut at your emotional core as a player and many of them come in the game's third act.

As Arthur's coming close to meeting his fate he tells Dutch Van Der Linde, "I gave you all I had. I did." The voice actor finishes the line with a slight voice crack which adds to the emotion of the scene and expresses how heartbroken Arthur is at Dutch's course of action.

3 Too Smart For Me, Sister.

For the most part, Arthur presents himself as the ideal Western protagonist. He's a strong and stubborn man who knows his way around horses as well as firearms. Throughout the game's narrative, players come to understand how empathetic and human Arthur is among a cast of toxic masculinity and sinners.

He has a conversation with Sister Calderon where he communicates his fear of dying a troubled man. He ends his conversation with her by saying "You're too smart for me sister. I guess...I'm afraid." The fear in his voice is something gamers all can relate to when facing mortality.

2 Loyalty

Clearly, Arthur and John are the two most prominent characters in the franchise as the protagonists of their respective games. Their conversations in Red Dead Redemption 2 are special because they showcase how much influence Arthur had on John as a man.

As the Van Der Linde Gang begins to fold, Arthur makes it a point to make John understand he needs to protect his family. After arguing about Dutch and what the next move is Arthur hits John will a definitive truth when he states, "Be loyal to what matters."

1 Arthur's Last Words.

As the game progressed it became quite clear that Arthur was likely to meet his fate by the time the credits rolled. As he came closer to death, Roger Clark's performance of Arthur reflected that in every verbal microexpression. In his last breath, Arthur rasped out, "John made it. He's the only one. Rest of us, no. But I tried. In the end, I did."

As he drew his last breath he wanted Micah and Dutch to know John Marston made it out alive. He knew the thought of John getting away would eat at them, and with John's freedom known Arthur was at peace.
