Reggie announced earlier this year that he would be stepping down from his position as president of Nintendo of America, which marked the beginning of his retirement. Reggie Fils-Aimé is continuing to keep himself occupied during his retirement with another speaking gig. Reggie has announced on his Twitter page that he will be one of two keynote speakers at SXSW 2020, alongside Kim Gordon from Sonic Youth. The other speakers at the event including the likes of Benny Blanco, Tressie McMillan Cottom, Steve DeAngelo, Camille François, Chip and Joanna Gaines, Roxane Gay, Chris Hughes, Guy Laliberté, Yo-Yo Ma, John Maeda, Col Needham, Kwame Onwuachi, Nile Rodgers, Merck Mercuriadis, Robert Rodriguez, and Cheech Marin.

SXSW stands for South by Southwest and it's an event that brings together individuals from every different aspect of the entertainment industry, including film, music, and video games. SXSW takes place in Austin, Texas, and it includes a lengthy music festival featuring hundreds of performers from around the world, as well as a film festival that runs for several days.

Reggie was a figurehead at Nintendo for over a decade and was beloved by the fans during his tenure with the company. Reggie also has experience working with other companies, such as Pizza Hut and VH1, so he will likely have a lot of insight that he can share with the SXSW attendees. The contents of Reggie's speech are unknown as of the time of writing, but it will likely include a lengthy dissertation about how to never localize Mother 3.

The SXSW 2020 event is due to run from March 13th to March 22nd.
