A reliable Mortal Kombat leaker has claimed that Reiko will be in Mortal Kombat 12, saying "see u next year".

Fans of Mortal Kombat and Injustice are patiently waiting for news on whatever game is next from NetherRealm, as the studio remains quiet about whatever is coming next from it. Although NetherRealm isn't give us any information just yet, a reliable Mortal Kombat leaker seems to be hinting that the studio is working on Mortal Kombat 12, and that it'll feature Reiko.

As pointed out by the Mortal Kombat leaks subreddit, a reliable leaker for Mortal Kombat 11, r00r, suddenly popped up on GameFAQs to give a hint about Mortal Kombat 12. They said, "ah. reiko's back. see u next year", before disappearing once again.

Mortal Kombat fans will remember that Reiko was introduced back in Mortal Kombat 4 and acted as the general to Shao Kahn's army. You might also remember his ending that had fans arguing for years over whether he was actually Shao Kahn in disguise. He featured in most Mortal Kombat games after his first appearance, although he has yet to be playable in the rebooted timeline.

The claim that Reiko will be in Mortal Kombat 12 holds some ground as r00r accurately leaked a lot of characters for Mortal Kombat 11, such as revealing that Noob would be in the game, confirming the name of The Kollector when the community thought it was too stupid, and even revealing which characters were associated with certain character codes before the game released. They also say "see u next year" which could be when Mortal Kombat 12 is either revealed or released.

Interestingly, this leak is supported by an interview with Ed Boon from February. In that interview, Boon discussed NetherRealm's release schedule and claimed that it had "broke that pattern". Although some thought this hinted at the studio doing something other than Mortal Kombat and Injustice, the pattern would technically also be broken from it releasing two Mortal Kombat games in a row.
