Niantic's Harry Potter: Wizards Unite is set for launch on mobile this Friday, per an official tweet from the developers, and will be available for both Android and iOS.

The Pokémon GO creators revealed the title back in March, describing it as a game in which: "A calamity has befallen the wizarding world, causing artefacts, creatures, people, and even memories to mysteriously appear in the Muggle world. Witches and wizards from across the globe must come together to solve the mystery of The Calamity, overcome the confounding chaotic magic that surrounds these “Foundables,” and return them to their rightful place, keeping them safe from Muggle eyes."

The game had already launched in beta in Australia and New Zealand but the global launch will begin on June 21. For now, it's unclear how long it will take to reach certain locations.

"The worldwide launch of Harry Potter: Wizards Unite begins this Friday, June 21!" Niantic tweeted on Tuesday night. "Keep your eyes peeled and wand ready for more information as the game goes live in your region soon."

This should come as pretty exciting news to Harry Potter fans, and maybe even persons who simply enjoy Pokémon GO and are looking forward to seeing what Niantic has in store. However, let's not all clear our Friday schedules just yet as the former took an absurdly long time to become available in certain countries, with Japan a chief example.

Wizards Unite seems to be similar to Pokémon GO but a bit more complex. There's no doubting that it will garner worldwide attention upon launch on Friday but it might not prompt as much excitement as catching Pokémon.

Who knows, though? Finding 'Foundables" could prove to be just as fun. There's also the multiplayer mode that will allow wizards to team up - or unite, as the title puts it - to take on villainous characters.

Harry Potter: Wizards Unite could be coming to a cell phone near you this weekend. Keep those fingers crossed.
