Turok the Dinosaur Hunter is returning to Nintendo systems in the future, as the remastered versions of the first two games in the Turok series will be coming to the Nintendo Switch.

The Turok series is based on a comic book about a Native American warrior who battled dinosaurs and other beasts. Turok was revamped in the '90s and the version of the series that was released by Acclaim Comics would form the basis for the first Turok: Dinosaur Hunter video game for the Nintendo 64.

Turok: Dinosaur Hunter was a popular first-person shooter for the Nintendo 64, even if it did have terrible draw distance and a lot of slowdowns when things got too hectic on the screen. There would be two more games in the Turok series released on the Nintendo 64 - Turok 2: Seeds of Evil and Turok 3: Shadow of Oblivion.

The first Turok game was remastered by Night Dive Studios and released for Windows and Xbox One in 2018, with a remastered version of Turok 2 following shortly after.

Nintendo has announced that the remastered versions of Turok: Dinosaur Hunter and Turok 2: Seeds of Evil will be coming to the Nintendo Switch in the future.

The Turok games will probably seem primitive by the standards of most modern shooters, due to their simplistic level design. The lack of multiplayer in the first game held it back in the eyes of many fans who had access to Goldeneye 007, as that game outclassed Turok: Dinosaur Hunter in every way possible.

The fact that Nintendo is allowing remastered versions of the first two Turok games to appear on the Switch also means we likely won't be seeing Nintendo 64 games being given away to Nintendo Switch Online subscribers anytime soon, as the first game would have been a prime candidate for the service.

Turok: Dinosaur Hunter might seem simplistic by modern standards, but there is still fun to be had by running around and fighting off dinosaurs with a range of futuristic weapons. The people who grew up with a Nintendo 64 may relish the chance to return to the Turok series once more and pump some bullets into demons and reptiles once more.

Turok: Dinosaur Hunter will be coming to the Nintendo Switch on March 18, 2019. Turok 2: Seeds of Evil will be coming at a later date.
