Calling Remnant: From The Ashes a Dark Souls clone with shooting mechanics is doing a huge disservice to what might just be one of the greatest third-person shooter games ever released. Gunfire Games has done a brilliant job of analyzing the design of Dark Souls and adding their own unique touches to the mix to craft a game that is truly spectacular in every sense of the word. The procedural generation that could've completely destroyed the game's structure ended up being one of the best features in the entire game, and the co-operative experience heightens the fun factor even further.

So, it's a shame to see that Remnant: From The Ashes doesn't have any crossplay whatsoever. In an age where couch co-op is slowly becoming obsolete, the least developers can do is enable crossplay on their games to make co-op gaming somewhat easier, if nothing else.

Of course, Remnant: From The Ashes isn't the only game at fault here — there are several games with brilliant co-op and multiplayer mechanics that most people aren't able to experience due to a lack of crossplay. This is a shame since the following games have the potential to truly become gaming phenomenons if the developers integrate crossplay in their titles.

10 Remnant: From The Ashes

This game is the sole reason why this discussion is even taking place. Remnant: From The Ashes is one of the most challenging third-person shooters around, and having a person playing with you in co-op can make a world of difference. Unfortunately, without any cross-platform support, finding help in this game can prove to be a challenge in itself.

9 Dark Souls III

If there's one game that definitely requires crossplay, it's the game that allowed for games like Remnant: From The Ashes to be as successful as they are. The Dark Souls franchise propelled From Software to the heights of the gaming industry, allowing it to enjoy the rampant success that it does.

The latest game in the franchise is the absolute pinnacle of excellence in design, with a multiplayer mechanic that is a blast to use. With crossplay, one can only imagine that this system will be enhanced considerably.

8 Overcooked 2

Cooperation in an online game is supposed to be the norm in co-op games, but Overcooked 2 shows just how challenging it can actually be. The saying "too many cooks spoil the broth" has never been more apt than for this game... but getting the cooks itself is a task. With crossplay, this could become way easier.

7 A Way Out

It's just criminal for a game that is built solely to be a co-operative experience to not have any cross-platform support whatsoever.

However, if you manage to get two people together for this game, then be prepared for an absolute blast. A Way Out is structured in a manner that feels equally measured and bombastic, making for a unique gaming experience indeed.

6 Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege

It's honestly quite surprising how Rainbow Six Siege has completely changed the market when it comes to tactical shooting games.

It's also surprising to see that a game whose foundation rests upon online gameplay doesn't have any cross-platform support whatsoever, something that a company like Ubisoft should be more than capable of integrating.

5 Cuphead

An indie darling that managed to wow gamers before release with its art style and wowed them after release with its brutally difficult yet engrossing gameplay, Cuphead is a brilliant sidescrolling shooter that deserves some much-needed crossplay.

After all, this title has a co-op mechanic which makes things fairly easier for the player in more ways than one. With crossplay, players can get some help to take care of bosses that are giving them a tough time.

4 Monster Hunter: World

Monster Hunter World

The Monster Hunter franchise is an iconic series in its own right, and the release of Monster Hunter: World pretty much cemented this series as one of the all-time greats.

The challenging gameplay can certainly be made somewhat easier with co-op gameplay, but finding friends to play with can be somewhat restrictive owing to the lack of cross-platform support.

3 Overwatch

A multiplayer shooter than took over the gaming world by storm, Overwatch is Blizzard's resounding answer to the soulless multiplayer games that had taken over the market at that time.

The integration of hero classes into the usual multiplayer shooting fanfare gave the genre a much-needed breath of fresh air. With the sheer number of people that spend days upon days playing this marvelous title, the scenario is ripe for this title to integrate crossplay and increase its player base even further.

2 Counter-Strike: Global Offensive

But, of course, one can't talk about competitive multiplayer shooter games without mentioning another brilliant title by Valve that completely revolutionized team-based gameplay as we know it: Counter-Strike.

Global Offensive was an overhaul of the original Source that was a long time in the making, and gamers were more than pleased with the end product. However, that doesn't give Valve a free pass when it comes to crossplay gaming. In fact, if there's any gaming company that can make a particular feature the norm across games, it's Valve.

1 Grand Theft Auto V

One would never have imagined a series like Grand Theft Auto to delve into the realm of multiplayer gaming, but it has managed to do exactly that in the most emphatic manner possible.

GTA Online is pretty much a worldwide phenomenon at this point, with gamers spending hours, if not days, trying to live out the perfect virtual life. One can only imagine how chaotic the world can get with the integration of cross-platform support.
