Getting weapons, armors, traits, and more in Remnant from the Ashes has always been a difficult ride because of the rotating random dungeon spawns. So this guide details how to get the assault rifle in Remnant from the Ashes.
How to Find the Sorrow's Fields Dungeon
One thing you should keep in mind while embarking on the path of finding the assault rifle in Remnant from the Ashes is that you should at least have completed the mission where you protect the Root Mother. This is because the dungeon where you have a possibility of finding the assault rifle is after clearing the Root Mother mission.
Furthermore, after the Church area on Earth, you get a mission called Supply Run. The Sorrow's Field Dungeon, which unlocks the Assault Rifle along with Spirit Trait, is the one players should look out for.
This dungeon is never guaranteed to appear in a playthrough, so look for the signs to make sure you don’t miss it. For starters, near the Mud Tooth’s Hideout checkpoint, go through the right gate. The path should lead you to a collapsed road that eventually takes you to a cave-like entrance. If you see the gate, go through the dungeon door, the entrance of which should look similar to the one shown in the image above.
Finding the Monkey Key and Room
After finding the Sorrow's Field Dungeon, you will have to explore the area inside and look for a door with a Monkey drawn on it. However, that door will also require you to unlock it by using a Monkey Key. Acquiring the Monkey key should come naturally to you as you progress through the dungeon, fighting minions and elites along the way. The monkey key collectible emits an orange light so keep an eye out for it.
After getting the Monkey key, proceed towards the door at the end of the dungeon. However, before you move past that golden gate, a door with Monkey drawn on it will be there to your left. The assault rifle and the Spirit trait can be obtained by using the Monkey key and opening the locked door.
Move past the locked door and look for a collectible item emitting purple light; the assault rifle can be seen at the far end of the room. Besides finding the Spirit Trait and assault rifle in the Monkey room, you will also find lots of Iron and Scrap.
Spawning the Sorrow's Field Dungeon and triggering the Supply Run random event can be a chore, but if you re-roll enough, you should eventually get it.
