Remnant: From The Ashes is getting a next-gen upgrade. On the PS5 and Xbox Series X, you'll have your choice to play at either 4K at 30 FPS or 1080p at 60 FPS. The Xbox Series S, however, will only get a 1080p at 60 FPS option.

This is a free patch to the existing game, so there's no need for existing players to repurchase Remnant. You'll just get the new graphical options when the update arrives on May 13.

Publisher Perfect World Entertainment didn't mention anything other than the graphical upgrade, but we're going to just assume that there's going to be at least slightly faster loading times that come with the next-gen features too.

Remnant: From The Ashes is a third-person action Soulslike that has players fight for their lives on a post-apocalyptic Earth. Monstrous creatures called “Root” have overrun the world, and it’s up to you (and possibly two other friends in co-op) to face down hordes of enemies using whatever weapons you can scavenge.

Eric called Remnant: From The Ashes a "masterpiece" in his review, and it's only gotten better since then with three huge DLC add-ons.

May 13 is coincidentally the same day that Remnant: From The Ashes arrives on Xbox Game Pass for PC. Perfect World said that PC players "will have cross-play support with Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S players," but PlayStation was a no-show in their statement. We’re going to assume that PS4 and PS5 players will be their own little island when this next-gen upgrade arrives.

PC players can also play across digital storefronts like Epic and Steam, although it's a bit of a process. You first have to add your friend using their Epic Games Store account name, and then you'll need to link your Steam and Epic accounts in Remnant from the Ashes. After that, there are a few more steps, but you can read about 'em in our guide here.
