Ren and Stimpy have been confirmed for Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl and will function as one playable character.

Although the official release date of Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl is yet to be revealed by its developers, a Nintendo eShop listing has it as arriving on October 5, 2021. If accurate, that's not long to wait at all until Nickelodeon's take on Super Smash Bros. arrives on various different platforms. With three weeks left to go, two new characters have been announced for its roster via the PlayStation blog.

Or maybe that should be one new character. Ludosity's Joel Nyström revealed via the blog that Ren and Stimpy will be a part of All-Star Brawl's roster. However, much like the Ice Climbers in Smash, the two of them will work together as a single character. While they will be slower, since Ren will ride on Stimpy's shoulders, they will be able to attack in two different directions at once.

“They are separate characters with distinct personalities, but they are also inseparable which is why they play as a single, joint character in Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl,” Nyström explains in the post. Ren and Stimpy are the first characters in All-Star Brawl to be announced as a duo. Unless you count CatDog, although they can hardly fight separately now, can they?

The inclusion of Ren and Stimpy was actually leaked a short while ago, also thanks to Nintendo's eShop listing for the game. Artwork was shown featuring additional characters that hadn't yet been officially reveald. Avatar's Aang and Korra were also pictured. Although not announced just yet, the reveal of Ren and Stimpy suggests the pair will also be unveiled very soon.

What you can expect from All-Star Brawl continues to become clearer as more and more details are revealed. Last week, Ludiosity gave those who plan on giving the game a try a first proper look at its gameplay. It's actually more detailed than most were expecting, and the game might have more staying power than it was first given credit for. There has even already been talk of it being played competitively.
