In the beginning, there was darkness. It was 1996, and Tomb Raider had just been released for MS-DOS. Some teenager said, "Let there be Lara Croft without any clothes on," and the modding scene was born. The Internet saw the perverted mods, and it was good.

The PC game modding community was originally formed on the backbone of stripping down female characters in video games, but the Internet is a much bigger place nowadays and all tastes are catered for, which may be the reason why there is a mod for the remake of Resident Evil 2 that removes all of Mr. X's clothes and puts him in a Speedo.

The Beachboy X mod for the PC version of Resident Evil 2 causes the infamous Mr. X to drop the coat and hat for a Speedo and set of flip-flops. Mr. X's hat has been replaced by a pair of sunglasses, which can be shot off his head. The Beachboy X mod was created by a Nexus Mods user named misterhecks, which is his only mod to date.

The version of Mr. X that appears in the mod also appears to have been hitting the gym, as he has muscles that would make Lex Luger jealous. The new look gives Mr. X a Dr. Manhattan vibe from Watchmen, with the added bonus of an Umbrella logo on his Speedo.

The Beachboy X mod is definitely not lore-friendly and it's hard to think of a reason why the Umbrella Corporation would dispatch muscled men to do their bidding, unless Umbrella was secretly being run by Vince McMahon the whole time. The Tyrant from the original Resident Evil looked like it had been working out as well, so maybe Umbrella is just a breeding ground for the next generation of WWE wrestlers. The government can't test for steroids if the wrestlers don't have blood, due to being bio-engineered monsters.

If there is anyone out there who feels that the remake of Resident Evil 2 is lacking in the beefcake department, then they can download the Beachboy X mod at Nexus Mods, which will work with the PC version of the game.
