When faced with hordes of zombies, the only way to escape Raccoon City alive is to take down the zombies before they can take you down. To do that, you're going to need a sizable and powerful arsenal, and Resident Evil 3 Remake graciously provides.

There are plenty of weapons Jill and Carlos can get their hands on, and each weapon has its own pros and cons for dispatching the zombies and other monsters you face. So here are the 10 best weapons in the game and how they stack up.

10 Hot Dogger

Your survival knife is a handy weapon you can use in a pinch if you've run out of ammo, and unlike in Resident Evil 2 Remake, you can keep using the knife without worrying about it breaking. Then there's the Hot Dogger, a much improved version of the survival knife.

The Hot Dogger does everything the survival knife does but with the added bonus of setting enemies on fire when struck, which can really come in handy. You can get the Hot Dogger from the store that unlocks after beating the game once for 7200P, or points. Points are gained by completing the various in-game challenges.

9 Frag Grenade

When in doubt, just chuck a frag grenade at a group of zombies and enjoy the fireworks. Frag grenades are not just great for taking out groups of enemies, but they're also effective against the Nemesis. A single grenade will stop Nemesis in its tracks and make it drop custom weapon parts for your handgun.

You can find frag grenades in multiple areas throughout Raccoon City but they're a rare commodity, so it's recommended that early on you save your grenades for the Nemesis.

8 Samurai Edge

The iconic Samurai Edge handgun returns in Resident Evil 3 Remake, having originally appeared in the original Resident Evil 3. Like the Hot Dogger, you can only obtain the Samurai Edge after beating the game and unlocking the store, but at 5600P it's cheaper than the Hot Dogger.

The Samurai Edge functions just like the regular handgun you start the game with, but this one packs more punch and is more accurate. The downside is that you can't attach any custom weapons part to it, but even so, it's better than the normal handgun.

7 Infinite Assault Rifle

Carlos uses an assault rifle as his main weapon when you play as him, and Jill only gets an assault rifle if you play on easy mode. But in either case, you're still limited by a finite amount of ammo. Such is not the case if you get your hands on the Infinite Assault Rifle.

With the Infinite Assault Rifle you can mow down scores of zombies without ever worrying about running out of ammo, and you get to free up the space in your inventory the ammo would have taken up. The only problem is that you'll have to complete a lot of challenges, as the gun costs 28,400P at the shop to get it.

6 Shotgun

In Resident Evil you should never go anywhere without your trusty shotgun. Shotguns are great for dealing with regular zombies and boss enemies alike. There isn't a version of this weapon with infinite ammo in this game, because if there was it would be near unstoppable.

You don't start the game with a shotgun but you do get it really early in the campaign. Once you've found the bolt cutters (which are located in the repair garage in the alley that's on fire) you can just head into the Railway Office and cut the chains off of the case housing the shotgun.

5 Grenade Launcher

Ideally, you'll want to save the grenade launcher for bosses or large enemies. It packs an incredible amount of firepower, and ammo for it is tough to come by. The grenade launcher is also quite versatile, as you can load in different kinds of grenades for different situations.

You'll come by the grenade launcher as you progress through the campaign. Once you get to the sewers you'll find the grenade launcher just waiting for you alongside some ammo in the Save Room.

4 Magnum

The Magnum is a familiar weapon in the Resident Evil franchise. It does a huge amount of damage, one-shotting most enemies and severely hurting large boss enemies. But ammo for it is so preciously rare it's best to use it only in the direst of circumstances.

In Resident Evil 3 Remake, the magnum can be found in the Hospital Courtyard but is only accessible while playing as Jill. As hard to find as the ammo is, the magnum is a great tool for taking out the Pale Heads quickly.

3 RAI-DEN

The RAI-DEN is an exceptionally powerful weapon firing electrical energy that one-shots any enemy you fire at, but only so long as you aim for their weak spot, like the head or exposed glowing eyeball.

Like a few other weapons on this list, you can only obtain RAI-DEN through the shop that unlocks after beating the game once, and it'll cost you 12,000P to receive it.

2 Infinite Rocket Launcher

Rocket launchers are immensely powerful weapons, which is why most Resident Evil games save them until the final boss fight. But in Resident Evil 3 Remake, you can't get a rocket launcher until after you beat the game.

This rocket launcher is yet another weapon only obtainable through the store, for a whopping 62,400P. As steep as that price tag is, it's worth it because this isn't any ordinary rocket launcher. This is a rocket launcher with infinite ammo, so you can go wild against every enemy in the game.

1 Railgun

Finally, there's the Railgun, a weapon only ever used during the final boss fight against the Nemesis. But even so, it causes a huge amount of havoc. The Railgun can only be fired when all the power cells around the room are blue, but then you can punch holes in the Nemesis like it was tissue paper.
