It seems that the rumored remake of Resident Evil 3: Nemesis is a lot closer to release than anyone realized, as artwork for the game has been uploaded to the PlayStation Network.

The recent remake of Resident Evil 2 was a huge financial success for Capcom, and led to speculation that a remake of Resident Evil 3: Nemesis was in the works. Resident Evil 3: Nemesis was released for the original PlayStation in 1999, and followed Jill Valentine as she attempted to escape from a zombie-infested Raccoon City. Resident Evil 3: Nemesis reused a lot of assets from Resident Evil 2, to the point where Jill had to spend time in the same Raccoon City Police Department that Claire and Leon would explore during their adventure.

It seems that Capcom has been hard at work repurposing the content from Resident Evil 2, as artwork for the Resident Evil 3: Nemesis remake has been uploaded to the PlayStation Network. The artwork comes courtesy of Gamstatwhich tracks all games as they are added to PSN.

Resident Evil 3 Remake Nemesis

The first piece of artwork shows the new renders for Jill Valentine, Carlos Oliveria, and Nemesis. Jill and Carlos' haircuts are both noticeably wilder than what the original PlayStation could show in its limited character models. Jill's tube top has been changed and now has a zipper, which suggests that her outfit has been altered to make her look more like an action hero and less like a woman on her way to the club. Both of the pictures show the terrifying Nemesis, whose design appears to be unchanged and still looks awesome after all of these years.

It's not surprising that a remake of Resident Evil 3: Nemesis would be far along in development. The original version of Resident Evil 3: Nemesis borrowed heavily from Resident Evil 2 and it's likely that Capcom has done the same with the remake. The only question now is whether the game will be a straight adaptation, or whether it will follow the example of the remake of Resident Evil 2 and expand upon the story of the original game?

The most exciting prospect about a remake of Resident Evil 3: Nemesis is giving Nemesis the same mechanics as Mr. X in the Resident Evil 2 remake, which would allow him to pursue Jill through Raccoon City in the way that he was always destined to.
