The recently released cast list for the upcoming remake of Resident Evil 4 apparently confirms an appearance by Albert Wesker. According to IMDB, the actor Connor Fogarty will be assuming the role in the as of yet unreleased game. Fogarty is mostly known for his work on God of War: Ragnarok and Shin Megami Tensei 3.

The game is referred to by developer Capcom as a “remake of the 2005 original Resident Evil 4 reimagined for 2023 to bring state of the art survival horror.” The official description explains that Resident Evil 4 “preserves the essence of the original game while introducing modernized gameplay, a reimagined storyline, and vividly detailed graphics to make this the latest survival horror game where life and death, terror and catharsis intersect.” The game is going to be released on March 24.

“The camera perspective is a third person view, as you remember from the original Resident Evil 4,” Capcom remarks about the remake. “With updated graphics, the feeling of isolation and eeriness from the original game is enhanced even more and the controls have been refined to a modern standard that enhances the intensity of the gameplay.”

While fans of the franchise have been eagerly anticipating an appearance by the character, rumors to the effect that Wesker would be absent from Resident Evil 4 have been running rampant for months, Capcom having revealed practically nothing about Wesker ever since the game was announced. There has on the other hand been a leak showing what appears to be some concept art.

Wesker was first introduced in Resident Evil as Captain of the Special Tactics and Rescue Service. The character has been a consistent antagonist, attempting to eliminate humanity through mass extinction and forced evolution. Wesker began as a prominent researcher for the notorious Umbrella Corporation before gaining superhuman powers by injecting himself with a variant of the Progenitor virus, ultimately meeting his end at the hands of player character Chris Redfield in Resident Evil 5.
